🇮🇱 Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir:
"If we had said 3 years ago that we would control 70% of Gaza, no one would have believed it.
So I say today: there will be a Jewish settlement in all of Gaza.
Gaza is ours."

It’s quite remarkable how many people quite intimately involved in racing, including experienced commentators, seemingly have no idea that the wagering paradigm that existed twenty years ago, simply does not exist anymore. The amount of times I have read that a single tote will boost pool size for exotics, with “more mug money in the pool,” is astounding. There is effectively no mug money in the pools. At all. The massive teams have the capacity to bet according to pool size and the dividends will reflect almost to the dollar, the exact price each combo should pay according to the SP. They then get a 10% rebate on turnover, so even if they actually lose 7% on turnover, they end up hugely successful. That success is 100% financed by the rank and file average punter who loses, on average over 20% on turnover on the same events. It would be a scandal in any other financial system, but this paradigm operates all around the world with impunity. The small punters fund the whales who don’t even need to win to make a fortune 🤷♂️

How does this actually benefit the punter, the product, or the race clubs if the pricing doesn't change?
Apart from streamlining Tabcorp’s internal system and cutting operational overheads, this creates zero new value for the consumer.
Without aggressively reducing the archaic takeout rates, The tote will instantly become an irrelevant betting product with Corporate Bookmakers happily betting Tote +X%
Why would a punter want to possibly bet directly to the Tote? How will they attract future clients?
Corporates will pick off their clients and have clean air with the next generation
The Big Winners: The corporate bookmakers, and the centralised revenue models tied directly to corporate turnover.
The Big Losers: The everyday punter, the tote itself, and the individual race clubs whose financial independence erodes as pool revenue declines
It is not too late for the Principal Racing Authorities to step up and pull this project into line.
Reduce the takeout aggressively. Turn the national tote into the highest-value betting product in the country overnight. Force the corporates to actually compete on price. That is how you drive sustainable turnover, restore liquidity, and deliver real, independent returns to the entire industry #TheGreatGame

Australia’s three tote pools are expected to merge early in the new racing season, with a launch as soon as Winx Stakes day a possibility once final approval from regulators is received. Full story: thestraight.com.au/parimutuel-uni…

My UFC credential has already been revoked so I’ve got nothing to lose.
Here’s the truth:
Conor & team informed Dana earlier in the week that he had a knee injury.
Dana told them the show MUST go on.
No refunds.
Because of the financial implications McGregor was forced to try.
People inside became aware that McGregor was comprised, and THAT’S why the betting line moved significantly prior to walkouts.
But since in excess of 80% + of the bets AND money legally wagered were on McGregor, this allowed the UFC’s sportsbook partners to win tens of millions in profit from unsuspecting (and uninformed) customers.
Shameful and disgusting business practice for the sake of pure greed, all at the expense of their own fans.
