@emollick It could, if it remains fun (your projects are always fun), we're losing critical and creative thinking skills (Ai makes us lazy) so we need to better understand how that gets passed on.

There are reasons formal education could become more important as AI gets better. Learning through informal apprenticeship (entry level white collar work) is being undermined by AI, as is ability to signal early work quality. We are pretty good at both those things in higher ed

prototyping > planning code is so cheap to write that the best way to build a new feature is 3-4 prototypes that you build and throw out before you even start to plan. that way your plan incorporates all of the learnings and failures from the prototypes, can you're more likely to build something great in one shot
