Got hit by a taxi man overtaking a line of traffic. At the police station making the report and learned that the driver has 201 unpaid tickets in 7 years, including that very morning. Why is he still on the road @JamaicaConstab ?!

@DamienWKing That may be the exception that probes (I said what I said) the rule, but you'd be hard-pressed to make a case that the people who "spend a penny", "see a man about a dog", "powder their noses", and "visit the facilities" are euphemism-light

In the UK, the washroom signs don't muck about with euphemisms, like "washroom". They get straight to the point of what you're there to do.

I remember when I could dial a number on my phone and it would just ring… Now? You dial a number, it doesn’t ring, and if you’re lucky the other party gets a text message saying they missed a call from you #Jamaica. This has been going on for at least 2 months. Both networks.

The world consumes Jamaican culture at an industrial rate, yet the very people who created it are told to tuck it away just to get a seat at the table. It’s 2026, the prejudice against Patois should be done and dusted. You can’t claim to be proud of your Jamaican identity while looking down on the very language that makes us unique.🫠

@yowtajon If you think Patois sounds dunce, you’re confusing language with intellect. You can speak “properly” and say nothing of value, or you can speak Patois and be the smartest person in the room.

I’m interested in knowing why Spirit failed and RyanAir (name aside, of course) and I guess EasyJet (?) continue to do well. I can’t speak with certainty to EasyJet but RyanAir for sure. So yeah, does anyone have any insight? You would save me research time. Thanks very much.

Saw a terrible accident on the toll. It was raining. Coaster lost control hit the median and overturned. I was immediately behind it and I promise it wasn’t speeding. It started losing control and within about 2 seconds it turned over

@jaevionn I first heard it in cricket commentary from the Caribbean (I think Barbados). I think it came to us from the region. I constantly pose the question "If what?" in my head when I hear it

@peterlevy @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 Facts matter. Since 1961 a footballer has won Male Athlete of the Year ONCE, and that was Deon Burton because of his effort with the National team, not individual achievement or accolades. 'Probably' doesn't count. This is an ongoing issue, being debated for years.

Any other country in the world, Khadijah Shaw would be a top nominee for Sport Personality of the Year, but Jamaica - no... we are not serious, at all.

@peterlevy @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 And you are missing the point of the entire conversation. We all agree that Bunny should get the award, it would be well deserved, however the criteria for the awards doesn't make her eligible. The RJRGLEANER awards needs to revamp their criteria. 'Dude'.

@stephengunter @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 Dude. She's Jamaica's all-time leading scorer, has taken us to 2 World Cups, one as captain, in which she led us to the knock-out stage. Add that to winning the Premier League and being the leading scorer on one of the marquee clubs in the League. Imagine a man with that record

@CaroleBeckford The annual awards criteria really needs to be revamped, because it's skewed towards national representation. @shearer39 has been making this very point for years.
