@Goffeman @JamaicaConstab when you large you large
English

Got hit by a taxi man overtaking a line of traffic. At the police station making the report and learned that the driver has 201 unpaid tickets in 7 years, including that very morning. Why is he still on the road @JamaicaConstab ?!
English

@DamienWKing That may be the exception that probes (I said what I said) the rule, but you'd be hard-pressed to make a case that the people who "spend a penny", "see a man about a dog", "powder their noses", and "visit the facilities" are euphemism-light
English

I remember when I could dial a number on my phone and it would just ring…
Now? You dial a number, it doesn’t ring, and if you’re lucky the other party gets a text message saying they missed a call from you #Jamaica.
This has been going on for at least 2 months. Both networks.

The world consumes Jamaican culture at an industrial rate, yet the very people who created it are told to tuck it away just to get a seat at the table. It’s 2026, the prejudice against Patois should be done and dusted. You can’t claim to be proud of your Jamaican identity while looking down on the very language that makes us unique.🫠

@ariennesoleil That road is conducive to aquaplaning. Safe wet road speeds are lower than on most roads

Seeing so many people nowadays getting bowled leaving-alone. And not from deliveries doing anything crazy like huge late in-swing. It's baffling to me.

I’m interested to try out Joseph Cox’s recently launched newsletter Caribbean Financial Dispatch …ribbeanfinancialdispatch.substack.com/?r=blxg&utm_ca…
English

@jaevionn I first heard it in cricket commentary from the Caribbean (I think Barbados). I think it came to us from the region. I constantly pose the question "If what?" in my head when I hear it
English

@stephengunter @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 Deon wins for helping us get to the WC once. Shaw doesn't for getting us there twice and getting us into the 2nd round. Got it.
English

@peterlevy @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 Facts matter. Since 1961 a footballer has won Male Athlete of the Year ONCE, and that was Deon Burton because of his effort with the National team, not individual achievement or accolades.
'Probably' doesn't count.
This is an ongoing issue, being debated for years.
English

@stephengunter @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 Then you are implicitly asserting that a male footballer with that CV would not have won the award either. My argument is that he would have, probably more than once
English

@peterlevy @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 And you are missing the point of the entire conversation. We all agree that Bunny should get the award, it would be well deserved, however the criteria for the awards doesn't make her eligible.
The RJRGLEANER awards needs to revamp their criteria.
'Dude'.
English

@stephengunter @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 Dude. She's Jamaica's all-time leading scorer, has taken us to 2 World Cups, one as captain, in which she led us to the knock-out stage. Add that to winning the Premier League and being the leading scorer on one of the marquee clubs in the League. Imagine a man with that record
English

@peterlevy @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 Can you name a male footballer who has won the award without representing the nation?
English

@stephengunter @CaroleBeckford @shearer39 It’s about more than national representation. Any male footballer with Shaw’s CV would have multiple Sports Personality awards.

English

@CaroleBeckford The annual awards criteria really needs to be revamped, because it's skewed towards national representation. @shearer39 has been making this very point for years.

Legend
Oliver Kahn@OliverKahn
Exactly 25 years ago today, I scored my first — and only — professional goal. Contrary to what I believed at the time, goalkeepers are not allowed to handle the ball in both penalty areas. The goal was disallowed and I was sent off — still it earned me legendary status. 😉 #otd
