Fully-ticketed game made it expensive for Tiger members who have already forked out $ for seats at home games. Know a few who stayed away last night for that reason.

@JimTomk @mickgleeson Sorry I meant Hawthorn. Will change. I think they generate enough without resorting to misleading headlines

@petryan @mickgleeson What’s Carlton got to do with this!? Generate clicks?

Hopefully Zach Guthrie kicks three for the season, Tom Atkins six, and the rest of the club goes goalless in 2026 based on this list.

With nine games to preview, our tipsters @wutube and @petryan are in their element on this week's episode of the Real Footy tipping podcast. They anticipate plenty of spite as old rivalries are reborn and former favourites face old mates. Listen here omny.fm/shows/real-foo…

@jacobdensley Not for everyone, that's fine but I guarantee everyone I spoke to who has worn a Hawthorn or Essendon jumper feels rivalry. The 70s Hawks felt it with North as did late 90s Bombers. Some of 2005-2018 Hawks rank Geelong equally. But Ess v Haw real and old
English

@petryan As a Hawks fan I'm awfully sick of hearing about this and seeing the same footage from decades ago every time they play, all replays of fights as though they provided no decent footy highlights. If Hawthorn ranked their rivalries now Essendon wouldn't be in the top ten.
English

Jai Newcombe: "As a Hawks fan I am well aware of the rivalry and it has been something very easy to buy into as well." This rivalry has passed through generations and will re-emerge after the Merrett trade attempt: theage.com.au/sport/afl/you-…
