Chcete-li naše úsilí podpořit, přispějte do sbírky SOS Ukrajina: clovekvtisni.cz/darujte/jednor…

“It’s OK, we won’t give up.” These are the words of Iryna from Sumy Oblast, but they represent the feelings of many Ukrainians who have lost their homes but not their faith. Find out how we’re supporting these people, with the help of @OCHA.

EU Humanitarian Aid | Middle East & North Africa
With support from the EU, @PIN_MiddleEast provided 300 families in Aleppo’s Ashrafiyeh with cash assistance to help them cope with immediate challenges. “This support helps me cover my family’s needs,” says Zakaria, a 70-year-old retired teacher displaced by the clashes.

A few months ago, together with my amazing colleagues at @people_in_need, we invited the families of Salwa, Aida, Amina and Mohammed to document their everyday lives in northern #Syria using only mobile phones. For several weeks, they captured the moments that make up their daily reality and, through their own eyes, welcomed us into their homes, streets and communities. Being part of this project was a powerful reminder of how storytelling can create connection, empathy and understanding beyond headlines and statistics. Not every shot is technically perfect — and that is exactly what makes these recordings so powerful. Honest, intimate and unfiltered, they offer a rare glimpse into life in a country that has endured almost 14 years of war. I’m especially proud that, together with the team, we could help highlight the role of the Temporary Learning Centres established with funding from 🇪🇺 @eu_echo @ECHO_MiddleEast. These centres provide children not only with education, but also with a safe place to play, make friends and rediscover hope. Take a look at the #ThroughTheirEyes series and read their stories: peopleinneed.net/throughtheirey… Many thanks to Ghilan, Ahmad, Veronika and everyone else involved for helping bring these important stories to light. #PINEiE @CLOVEKVTISNI

Ukraine is continuing to deal with the aftermath of Russia’s overnight attack on May 24. At least four people were killed and around 100 injured, including 87 in Kyiv alone. In total, nearly 300 sites across Kyiv were damaged. The majority were residential buildings, with almost 150 private houses and apartment buildings sustaining various degrees of damage. Emergency services, medics, and recovery teams are working around the clock every day to eliminate the consequences of the attack and restore affected areas. We are grateful to everyone helping Ukraine recover from the horrors of Russian strikes. As usual, Russia deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure and civilians. Unable to achieve success on the battlefield, it is trying to break the resistance and spirit of the Ukrainian people. The world must not turn a blind eye to the war crimes of the terrorist state. Support for Ukraine must remain fully consolidated – air defense is critically important for protecting the lives of our people. Pressure on the aggressor must only increase.

Eyewitness footage captures the moment a Russian missile struck Kyiv on May 24. Russia launched a massive combined attack overnight, deploying 90 missiles and 600 drones that primarily targeted the capital. The devastating overnight assault marks one of the largest mass attacks on Ukraine over the last year. Video: the_sip_and_swish ; davydenko_vadym / Instagram.

As a result of Russia’s overnight attack against Ukraine, at least 100 people across Ukraine have been injured, and four killed. Kyiv was the main target, but strikes affected multiple locations across Ukraine. Residential buildings, schools, civilian infrastructure, a market and a water supply facility were damaged. In Kyiv alone, 78 people were injured and two killed. Search and rescue operations continue in the capital, where people may still remain under the rubble. Russia continues to wage war not against military targets but against ordinary people. Deliberate attacks on civilians must not become normalised or go unanswered. Ukraine needs continued support and stronger pressure to stop Russia’s terror and bring a just peace closer.
