@evp82 Our paper on our prognostic risk score for chronic pain spread is finally out in @NatureMedicine and officially the first paper from our lab @evp82 ! Thanks and congrats to everyone involved 🥳#Sec10" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nature.com/articles/s4159…

Very pleased to have our first lab paper posted as a preprint: bit.ly/3Q8mz3c. We used the UKBB and identified a common biopsychosocial risk score that classified different chronic pain conditions and predicted the spreading or recovery of chronic pain nine years later.

@relajoie Enjoyed the exact same walk after HAI 2020 in what appears to be a similar (windy?) weather! A great way to relax and unwind after the best conference out there 😉

@alexa_pichetb Congrats Alexa! Such important work as the development of these biomarkers continue. And such a valuable cohort of individuals. Great work (as always) ! :)

Couldn’t agree more. The (sometimes) ‘cult-like’ reverence of PhD in academic circles also drives incredibly talented people out of non-faculty uni jobs because they feel they don’t belong. A little humility goes a long way.
Roshni Rao@drroshnirao

Some of the most brilliant, bold & incredibly smart colleagues I work with do not have PhDs. Having a Phd does not automatically mean 1) that you you’re an expert at it all 2) that you have the most innovative ideas or 3) that you should be the loudest voice in the room.

1/3 New lab paper suggesting, in 4 independent cohorts of cognitively unimpaired individuals, that the presence of both amyloid and tau-PET positivity is associated with near-term #AlzheimersDisease clinical progression. Strong support for the NIA-AA preclinical research criteria
JAMA Neurology@JAMANeuro

Study found that Aβ and tau PET positivity in cognitively unimpaired individuals was associated with near-term progression to mild cognitive impairment and, among those who do not show such categorical change, longitudinal cognitive decline. ja.ma/3OLjqF4

The UCL/GOT biomarkers course with a line up of GOATs in the field! If you’ve never attended, this is 100% worth it. Wish I could be a graduate student just so I could attend again...
Michael Schöll@_michael_scholl

This year’s “UCL/UGOT Biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases” course is probably the best we have ever offered, very much looking forward to meeting all the delegates and speakers in person in London very soon! @UCLIoN @drcionucl @goteborgsuni @tautangles @aitanasogorb

@DrTFromKC These are still early days for this assay but we have to see how it performs in pops. with a larger proportion of healthy individuals with more tau deposition. For now, it looks like a screening tool for research purposes. Much validation is needed on the road to clinical use!

@DrTFromKC You’re right that this is particularly apparent for associations with tau PET! Two things: 1. Results in the paper are reported using robust regression (i.e. tampering the effect of outliers on beta estimates) 2. This cohort is very early in the disease process (i.e. low tau)

Two years, a transition to industry and a pandemic later, I am delighted to share our investigation of plasma biomarkers in @prevent_ad! A great collab with the world’s best initiated with our friends @_michael_scholl @NicholasAshton and @sylv_villeneuve’s lab @mcgillu !
Nicholas Ashton@NicholasAshton

Published in @ANA_journals! Blood #pTau231 has robust associations with #Aβ and #tau PET in preclinical #Alzheimers. Plasma #pTau231 + plasma #Aβ detected early #cognitive #decline 📉 @pf_meyer @sylv_villeneuve @prevent_ad @goteborgsuni + many others 🩸🧠 pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35084051/

@pf_meyer That is a good question! I should be better about defining my acronyms. It's industrial/organizational and focuses on psychology of the workplace.
