@nikitabier FoF is always an engineering challenge as the use base grows. Still high even if right DB wasn’t used. That apart, to achieve confidence on the broader hypothesis, it makes sense.

When I tested the first prototype of the Gas app at a single school, it cost $600 in server costs per day—with a userbase of only 800 people. This was mainly due to the friends-of-friends feature, a necessary piece to create social graph density. We knew with certainty that we could bring the costs down—but it would take 1-2 months to build it with the right database architecture and the school year was almost over. For us, the bigger unknowns were (a) if an anonymous polling app would resonate 5 years later, (b) if people would pay for it, and (c) if it would grow—so we paid the upfront cost to answer these questions quickly before summer started. This proved to be invaluable: it gave us sufficient signal to embark on a longer development cycle and it provided benchmarks on key funnels so we knew where to allocate our time for the next few months.

One thing is common between today and 1975-77 Emergency: The lack of spine in the media. In the Emergency it was a Minister [V.C. Shukla] who told the media to bend, but media complied by crawling. Hello @aprameya few feedback/missing feature on Koo web app. If this is implemented in next release/future it would be great. 1) Emoji icon which is missing from the web app. 2) Reach stats, we can post koo in multiple language but the cannot see the reach stats.

@USafely yes, Goto you profile -> click on the : on the top right -> Edit and from here you can change. Will take this internally to make this easier.

@USafely We don't have a concept like background image unlike Twitter. We have enabled users to upload 10 background images in their profile. The first one is shown by default - profile.

@USafely Thank you for the feedback. We have rolled out a faster web version recently and is being done in batches. Our App (both Android & iOS) are super slick and our plan is to do the same on web. This should address the slowness.

@adityaag @elonmusk Don’t think data store can change ; access patterns for sure yes. At @KooAppIndia we do that to some extent to tackle the fan out issue for whales. Would be keen to know if data stores were also thought in that lens. Thanks for sharing

At Facebook (in the early days), the code paths required to make the site run for whales (>5000 friends) was quite distinct from the code paths for the average user (<300 friends). @elonmusk The twitter experience is over-fitting for your issues and degrading for others.
