Shocking Dark (or Terminator 2 or Aliennators ) (1989) Hopefully this is the greatest movie ever made because I’ve just ordered it on Amazon for $30 without ever having seen it 😁 (I think it’s more of an Aliens ripoff)🤣 #TerminatorRipooffs

@Noahpinion This was the one that really, truly baffled me. Never a scintilla of effort at explaining how he would do it and median voters bought in while mainstream media reported he said it with the lightest of interest in getting details.

I realized years ago that in order to be a financially viable endeavor, comic books had to be physical paper publications. Having digital versions to sell is fine, but it’s not enough to sustain an industry (or most individual creators). The paper is part of their “aura.”

@JMcNutty23 A family friend who worked vice used to tell me about the golden age where you could go to certain hotels and ask for Tony Montanas room and be asked which one you wanted 🤣

I don’t think I ever executed a search warrant where there wasn’t a Scarface framed picture/poster. (And I was never in narcotics). 🤡

@ZbynekDrab @Noahpinion Simply internalizing “Don’t be a dick to or about women” would get better results for mid men than anything the nimrods in this thread are suggesting.

It never stops boggling my mind that the Trump family--while raking in billions of dollars from oil barons abroad in corrupt quid-pro-quo cash--still goes to the additional trouble of all these little rinkydink schemes to bilk the truest MAGA believers out of $50 here, $100 there

It's hard to explain just how detached from reality President Trump's conspiracy-theory-filled social media posting spree last night and this morning was. One easy example: The president shared a completely made-up and frankly nonsensical "quote" about former president Obama the post attributed to GOP Sen. John Kennedy. The fake quote originated with a "satire" website, basically a fakery factory, that invents stories to be shared by online conservatives; per the fact-check website Lead Stories, versions of this particular fake quote have been wrongly attributed to everyone from Kash Patel to Madonna. leadstories.com/hoax-alert/202…

@ddale8 @brianstelter Is it any different than the stories about Trump sourced with anonymous people who claim to be "familiar with the matter" that CNN, NYT and WaPo routinely publish?

Rewatched TCM last night. God, what a great, disturbing movie . We were very unimpressed with Leatherface’s smaller cousin a few years ago at a con, though. Didn’t quite have Gunther’s gravitas 🤷‍♂️... He was too affable. #MutantFam #TexasChainsawMassacre @choptopmoseley

I canvassed an 80 year old woman in Arizona who said she wasn’t voting for Kamala because she “didn’t want me to get drafted.” The hawkish rhetoric and signals like campaigning with Cheney did NOT help Harris.
Rotimi Adeoye@_rotimia

I’ve shared this, but I was canvassing for Harris in Bucks County, PA. Knocked on the door of a woman who said she was thinking about voting for her, but then Harris started campaigning with Cheney and her son died in Afghanistan, that was her red line, so she was voting Trump.

@TheVallyD I mean it as a compliment to say I read Ebert reviews to get informed but read Reed to get entertained.

Rex Reed was the first movie critic I was aware of as a little kid, even before Siskel & Ebert. He was known for writing these bombastic scathing reviews of films, and I enjoyed reading them in the newspaper b/c it was like entertainment.
Variety@Variety

Rex Reed, a critic and journalist known for his brash takes on films, died Tuesday at his Manhattan home. He was 87. Reed’s reviews were featured in publications like The New York Times, GQ, Esquire, and Vogue. He penned a column in the New York Observer over the last four decades. variety.com/2026/film/news…

@ConsoomerLs There is a certain amount of Boomerism to the whole theory that you will build relationships and accumulate institutional knowledge when in fact the post Covid workplace is often having every second of screen time monitored and being penalized if you take five minutes to chat.

@atrupar So, if the claims in that post are true, and they seem to be, what crime was committed and what should the punishment be? Even if you think the charges are false, someone who did that should go to jail, right?

@ManFirestorm I really wish this one had lasted longer. After this issue, for obvious reasons given the premise it seemed like the book was struggling a bit to give the reader a lead or two we could really connect with but the kinks were worked out and the book was 🔥 when it ended.

And they just kept going. This story felt more realistic than the standard superhero fare. Whetted my appetite for something outside of the big 2 continuity. And the art was top shelf

Anderson, Williams and Scheele Strikeforce Morituri. Spoiler alert, if you want to read this later maybe skip this post. Because this was out of the regular continuity, they took chances. This issue blew me away.
