The city of Boise dumped a massive pile of jagged rocks under this bridge to stop homeless people from camping or sleeping there. The woman filming walks through it and complains that this is what they did so the homeless cannot stay out here while adding that Idaho can do better. Many locals actually support the move, saying it helps keep the area from turning into another Portland.

@phantasmasaurus Those are really good finds! Guess you can say it was 'Made in Japan' but making spaghetti in Japan doesn't make it Japanese. But these things aren't cut and dried, there's a lot of western influence on manga & now vice versa.

@phantasmasaurus I haven't read it, only seen pictures. It seems like one of the few comics that can genuinely be said to be what furry grew out of.

@bckomix Yes, true! But it technically is a Japanese comic.... Actually I think it's notable because from what I recall the manga industry was heavily inspired by the comics that American G.I.s brought with them during the occupation. I also have a similar book for the returned soldiers

@phantasmasaurus Cool book. But stylistically those look like cartoons found in American men's magazines at the time. There's nothing absorbed from Japan (except jokes about being in Japan).

@bckomix Ok so what's your opinion on this - I found a book of comics from 1946, printed and published in Japan, but it was written and drawn by Americans who were stationed there as part of the occupation forces. Does that count as manga?

@Gentleman_Ways I love reading the really old issues. You get a very clear picture of very different times and places and people, it's absolutely fascinating. The photos from the 60's through the 90's are fantastic also.
