Robert Crumb is 82 years young today! I celebrate why he's the GOAT in "Ode to R. Crumb." Link in replies.

@RobertW42487183 Yeah that's a great comic. I'm a sucker for anything about the psyche, dreams, etc.

@bckomix You were right, this is a solid cover. Reminds me of the short-lived Simon/Kirby comic "World of your Dreams"

𝙴𝚅𝙴𝚁𝚈 𝙴𝙲 𝙲𝙾𝚅𝙴𝚁 Jack Kamen Psychoanalysis #3 (1955) One of my favorite EC covers, underrated because of the title. The art is BLOWN UP in the Taschen EC History book and it looks sooooo good.

@bckomix Was going though some books I had today and came across this! Reminds me of Toughy somewhat, yeah? Even the kids comics were the coolest back then!

@bckomix There aren't that many scenarios you can show in a psychoanalysist's office. These covers are kinda samey

𝙴𝚅𝙴𝚁𝚈 𝙴𝙲 𝙲𝙾𝚅𝙴𝚁 Jack Kamen Psychoanalysis #2 (1955) Psychoanalysis had continuing characters, which was a departure from EC's typical anthology format. And though played out nowadays, the therapist's office was a convenient setting to explore these characters' inner lives.

From the Visionary Creator of The Maxx and Co-Creator of The Sandman...🎨 Closes Tonight: LIVE Art Auction -Lot #2: comicconnect.com/item/1092775 Sam Kieth Zero Girl: Full Circle #3 Cover Original Art (DC, 2003). The Atmospheric Genius: Sam Kieth's original paintings represent the purest form of his genius. While his pen-and-ink Marvel covers push toward $100k, this breathtaking mixed-media watercolor on modern art board perfectly captures the 'Kieth Aesthetic'—a hauntingly beautiful blend of fragility and the surreal that defined the Modern Age of Comics. "Sam Kieth’s work has a strange, organic beauty. It's as if he’s painting with his nerves—there is an emotional honesty in his lines that you simply don’t see anywhere else in the medium." — Neil Gaiman The Market Trajectory: For those tracking the market, the trajectory for Kieth's creator-owned masterworks is undeniable. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a complete cover painting from Zero Girl: Full Circle, the acclaimed successor to his original Zero Girl series for DC/Homage. The Hammer Drops TONIGHT. ⚒️ Exceptional! @comicbooklundy @bckomix @speakcomix @ComicCrusaders @GeekToMeRadio @AnsiaVivaComics @FrecuenciaGlob1 @odhurt @mediummic @HelloBerlin3 @DCAUReview @ComicsModernAge @KevinLamb74 @S_Marguerite @Ironable @DonalTDeLay @ShadowpunkComic @retroscifiart @ZaidComics @Comicsen8mm @zachstayuplate @Steelmudfantasy @Fotosdecomics @Guardians @JonathanJColton @philhester @dranj70 @Steelmudfantasy @iamironfist23 @CoolComicArt @GreggKatzman @immortalcoochie @ShadowpunkComic @comicbookaddt @bckomix @kelleyjonesart @ILikeWhatIBuy @DonalTDeLay @larrykingundead @VenomEveryday @WizardsComics @TomosyGrapas @CBCCPodcast @ThisguyHassan @batmancurated

@otterdisaster Yeah that would be great. There have been comics that incorporated the history of the industry (like Chaykin's Hey Kids! Comics!, which I need to read) but none that I know of that delve into the seamy underbelly of the GA.

@bckomix I think a Mad Men style series about the insane world of the Golden Age comics business would be fascinating as hell. Lots of maniacs, gangsters and weirdos for sure.

Bob Wood, Silver Streak Comics #9 (1941) Prettty unexceptional cover, except the artist Bob Wood was a murderer, beating girlfriend Violette Phillips to death before confessing to a cabbie. He was the co-creator of Crime Does Not Pay.

From Osamu Tezuka’s guide to drawing comics. Choose your path: "Was mistaken for a burglar," "A fire had just been lit below suddenly," "The chimney was too narrow," "The chimney was clogged," then describe what happened to Santa.

Training myself to spot the Silver Age lettering greats. Ira Schnapp had a more classic, refined style, Gaspar Saladino was looser, more expressive. Also by the late '60s Saladino was made the main logo & ad designer, Schnapp was 'retired' by DC in '68 & died shortly after.
