My first experience in crypto was competing in builder competitions. It’s the origin story for where I am today. I would work my 9-5 software engineering job, then work 5-10 on the competition, and then go to bed exhausted. I did everyday this for months. I made 3 apps for 3 different competitions…, and didn’t once win shit. Working around the clock for what? Well tbh money was never the point. The point was always to learn. I am a believer that the skills you learn through building will make you more money than any prize. For me, this is 100% true. The skills I learned doing those competitions got me my job at Avalanche, made me a more valuable employee, and got me where I am today. Also makes me passionate about now throwing them. Why I am passionate about build games. Everyone who entered (except the loser grant farmers who we hunted and rejected) got something out of it. Yes experience AND prize money is the optimal outcome, and it hurts falling short of anything, but regardless everyone got something out of it. The entire ecosystem got better in ways we may not currently understand. Not saying Build Games was perfect. Far from it. But it’s extremely fulfilling seeing so many builders grow through this as I once did. Whether it be a solo builder or a team. As a whole, Avalanche got stronger🔺
