There are a lot of sector specific loop holes in our systems that local models can easily fix. All we need is data sovereignty. It doesn't even have to be a sophisticated model. Someone influencer here ask me that, we have grok, chat gpt.. So why do we need our own AI. I was shocked. But it shall be well

A lot of them are so clueless about AI. We’re experiencing a modern echo of colonialism. Picture the scenario of the railways system back then were built to extract resources out of the continent and not to connect or empower the people living here. That same pattern repeats in digital form. Our data lives on servers and clouds we don’t own, driving models and systems that rarely serve our needs. Until we build our own infrastructure and control our data, we will keep fueling someone else’s progress instead of our own. The key is starting small. We should start prioritizing sovereign data storage, African-language models, and sector-specific AI for agriculture or healthcare, transportation, fintech rather than chasing frontier models like GPT from day one. Every win is a win so far as it’s solving real pain problems for us.

@pazunre I had to explain this to a so called influencer today. It's a disaster if we outsource critical data to external models. x.com/i/status/20397…

The youth, who are supposed to be leaders of tomorrow are saying AI is a misplaced priority. Most of you don't have any idea where the world is right now. No wonder KT Hammond said 'your heads like coconut'. There's nothing in there 😂😂😂😂

A heartbreaking incident at Ridge Hospital in Accra has highlighted serious concerns about patient care. Early Tuesday, Kweku Agykum’s cousin, admitted in labor, required urgent medication for her unborn child. Agykum said he immediately sent money to his mother to help, but when she arrived at the hospital, staff reportedly refused to discuss the situation with the mother and insisted on upfront payment. By the time funds were processed, the baby had tragically died.

Doctors in Samreboi in the Western Region of Ghana, have delivered babies whose abdominal walls weren't properly formed. Several cases. Mercury, cyanide and arsenic found in the placentas of mothers near galamsey sites. The Bonsa Water Treatment Plant serving 500,000 Ghanaians in Tarkwa shut down in January 2025 because of galamsey pollution. 32% of Ghana's youth are unemployed. And your priority is VISA-FREE entry for all Africans? Check your own manifesto. It's not in there. You promised to fight galamsey and fix our water. Do that first. The NPP wrecked this country and you campaigned on resetting it so why are you drifting off course? Why?? Fix the home before you open the door. Ghana is not ready for this!!!!!!!!!

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana will introduce a free electronic visa regime for all African nationals, effective May 25, 2026, Africa Day, as part of efforts to promote Pan-Africanism, boost tourism, and position Ghana as a prime investment destination on the continent . #3NewsGH #TV3GH

They should keep sleeping. It has happened before and it will be repeated. Our party never learns its lessons. I remember back in 2015-16, party communicators refused to show up on radio because they were neglected, and the same is being repeated. No one is ready to build the capacity of social media communicators meanwhile it’s the backbone of the party; all they prioritize is their cabals. No recommendations, absolute Nothing! If they don’t know you personally, forget the work you do on here.
KALYJAY@gyaigyimii

I really wish the government communications and party communications will sit up. The misinformation Dey become plenty too much. I don’t know your plans but if you are waiting to clear false information during election year dier you are making a grave mistake.

$250m for an AI centre when hospitals don’t have beds, kids are still learning under trees, power is unstable and galamsey is destroying our water bodies??? This isn’t vision o it’s a complete failure, just look around.

Oh so you saw the 'multiplier. Do you really think Ghana doesn't have the basics of health care? We are better than a lot of sub Saharan African countries and our next goal is to maximise our gains. Not to say we shouldn't adapt to new technologies because there are hospitals without beds.

@phathers1 yes, the US and China invest billions in AI after providing proper healthcare, building schools and providing stable power, not as a replacement for them. If you need US and China for your argument to make sense, then you’ve already lost it

@akorfaaaaaaaa It sums up how naive you are in AI. AI is a universal intelligence and the US and China uses AI in all their sectors. From security, health, Agric, industry and finance. That's why they invest so much in it. Again, you know nothing about AI

Very good question. The answer: Grok is trained with data from X and other sources. Every prompt, image or file you give it goes into their own data centres. Governments cannot integrate @grok or chatgpt or any other AI into our systems because it will have access to sensitive government data. Imagine a foreign AI has access to NIA data or EC data. That's not acceptable. So for government to improve efficiencies in its operations, it is important to have it's own AI, just like we have our own data centres which stores our records. I hope you understand now 😂😂😂😂

Anthropic has raised 70 billion so far to build Claude 🤪 🤪 I misspoke 😂 SOMEONE SHOULD GIVE US JUST 0.1% of that - 70 million $ - and we will build something competitive USING GHANA BASED TALENT ONLY That would cost LESS THAN THE NATIONAL CATHEDRAL HOLE 🕳️ OO!! 🤣🤣
Paul Azunre@pazunre

@TheDumbTechGuy @hassan_codes I mean give me 10% of the 70 billion $ they have raised and I guarantee you that I can build something better using Ghana based talent only SEVENTY BILLION DOLLARS You think we couldn’t build a substitute for a fraction of that?

@phathers1 I think they are mostly worried about the fair allocation of funds To be fair to critics, we can point to very few successes of government programs, so based on that the skepticism is justified But no, it is not a misplaced priority
