@OldHollowTree My parents grew up in a culture that believed in ghosts and spirits that lurked in the woods. And these weren’t always the good kind.

The most alien concept to me is the forest as a foreboding, dangerous, or otherwise scary place. I superficially understand that people feel this way but I don’t really get it. I don’t really need to either. It’s ok.

COVID killed our dinner parties but we will be restarting them again this year.

@benryanwriter Same but not everyone is built for hosting I get that. We can only manage dinner parties monthly but then we have many other get togethers outside of that too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have people over to dinner about 15 to 20 times per year. I am invited over to dinner zero to one time per year. People often behave as if a social invitation is an onerous burden. They are in a long-term relationship with themselves.

@OldHollowTree No you’re right. Some of it is changing social norms, schedules and heath complications and some of it likely is a falling away of friendships.

It feels like very few people host anymore. They definitely don’t just drop in on each other as much. Maybe it’s just a vibe, but ten years ago I feel like I just read more about hosting. Am I off base? Did Covid just break people? Can we return?

Also: no more blurriness in 2025!
