I want to do a fun stream sometime where I try to run ancient Ethereum software from 2014-2016. Run Alethzero, Mist, Whisper, etc. Launch a smart contract written in Serpent. Try to sync Morden. What software or experiences am I missing?

@hudsonjameson @etherchain_org But that may be because I spammed a lot on the testnet back then. So a clean sync would take less space for sure.

@hudsonjameson Well I think my copy is from shortly after the mainnet launch. Surely someone kept mining on the testnet accidently.

@hudsonjameson @avsa Yes, you could use Mist with a custom node. You did not need to run let it run its own geth node.

@avsa I highly doubt it for Bitcoin, lol. I *think* you could use the geth testnet flag in way earlier versions and Mist would sync to that as long as the RPC ports were the same and it was on the same system.

🦪🐚Something I used to really like to do when swimming was to dive and fish for oysters, urchins and other stuff. 👨‍👧Here is an urchin I just fished out to show to my daughter. Still got the skills 😁 🫡(Threw it back in later -- though it is actually very tasty)

@LefterisJP AFAIK, they are two distinct metrics for client diversity and not exactly comparable. Sigma prime looks at the artifacts of the proposed blocks, so it trys to map validator to clients. OTOH miga labs crawls the network for beacon nodes and counts via the self-report.

Interestingly enough there is a **huge** difference between the two data sources for determining what #ethereum consensus clients are running in the network. clientdiversity.org

@LefterisJP That is not uncommon and totally fine. They need to be "sealed" and you should not be able to take a look inside from the outside.
