A really disappointing day for @SouthShieldsFC, created plenty of opportunities but couldnt quite remain composed when the chances came. We will look back in a few weeks at the huge progress made this season while new investment brings renewed optimism for a title fight

@TeleFootball If true, Howe needs to concentrate on the future of the club, which is Woltemade, and use the next 6 games as an early pre-season opportunity given we have little to play for now.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Anthony Gordon is keen to explore his options to leave Newcastle United in the summer as he looks to follow Alexander Isak out of the club. “It seems as though Gordon feels he has outgrown Newcastle and would like a new challenge as well as a large pay rise at a club competing regularly in the Champions League.” @LukeEdwardsTele has the full exclusive ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

@LukeEdwardsTele I think this has probably been the case for a couple of years but I agree this summer it will probably happen

@LukeEdwardsTele I think a lot will depend on if Eddie has the energy himself for the rebuild required rather than if the club decide he's the wrong person to do it.

@LukeEdwardsTele I agree with all of this, and if we had missed out on CL or not won a cup this season then OK. I just struggle with games like Sunday (which have been frequent this season) when I still think despite all of the above we should have enough to perform far better than we are seeing.

For those asking why I back Howe. Two champions league qualifications in four years having inherited a team destined for relegation. Won the club’s first domestic trophy for 70 years despite the club’s failure to sign a player to improve the first team since Tonali in 2023 because of PSR. Forced to sell Anderson and Minteh for PSR. Was left last summer without a sporting director and a CEO. lost isak on deadline day - the team’s top goalscorer and most important player - and missed out on Trafford, Ekitike, Pedro and Sesko as they went elsewhere for money and to club’s with more aura in London and Manchester. Yeah he’s made mistakes, but if you look at everything he has achieved I’d back him over anyone else to lead the rebuild as a manager with a proper recruitment structure in place #nufc
Luke Edwards@LukeEdwardsTele

Eddie Howe remains the best manager for Newcastle United and deserves the chance to rebuild the squad in the summer with a proper support structure in place. If he leaves in the summer, I believe the club will regret it. Probably swiftly and for a long time. This is my opinion. I have covered the club for 23 years. I watch them pretty much every week and nothing that happens between now and the end of May will change my mind. It’s fine to disagree. I’ve seen a few comments about where I’m from recently and the fact I’m not a fan. Like that prevents me from having an opinion on a club it is my job to cover and has been for more than two decades. This is my professional opinion as a football journalist. Lots of you will disagree with it. But I also know many of you agree with me because I speak to people all the time and don’t spend my entire day on here. Opinions vary, that’s absolutely fine #nufc

“This is why we do it, we do it to be in these games” South Shields manager Ian Watson has called on his players to ‘cherish’ the battle they will face in tonight’s crucial home clash with National League North rivals Macclesfield. 🗞️@shieldsgazette shieldsgazette.com/sport/football…

“Intensity is our identity” only gets us so far, and it only gets #NUFC to some point around December if they’re also in Europe. After the loss to AC Milan, and through that season we finished 7th and said we’d learn from that going forward. But it feels a lot like we didn’t.

@tfNUFC Woltemade given 5 mins and then throwing Elanga and Wissa on with seconds left is wild.

@tfalex1892 Yep. All the great words around analysing the data after the derby and I worry it's just that, words, as the outputs of this analysis result in the same thing happening week after week

Beaten by a half arsed side who rested all their good players and played on Thursday. Beaten by one of the worst home teams In the league. Our issue is coaching. Not the transfer window. Not fatigue. Not two games a week. Not lack of time on the training ground. Coaching.

@DBiggaFigga @NetflixUK Makes sense, just seems very strange they would then list this announcement without having those things ironed out as it's never been a simple deal this one

@phil_thornton @NetflixUK It sounds like Turki & Netflix agreed to air a number of fights this year, with this being one of them, but it also seems they don't have all the details negotiated, agreed & signed yet either. I'm sure Turki & Netflix want to hype the fight, but AJ wants it signed/agreed first.

Enjoyed being back at @SouthShieldsFC for the first game in a little while. Would have obviously liked it more if it had remained 2-1! Paul Blackett showing once again his importance to the team during this run in.

Its too simplistic to say roles will disappear, roles will evolve, the demands and dynamics of that role will be fundamentally different - in some cases the roles will evolve into completely new roles but humans in the loop will continue to be important.
Dustin@r0ck3t23

Elon Musk just identified which jobs go first, and it destroys every assumption about who’s safe. Musk: “AI is going to take over those jobs like lightning. Anything that is digital, which is like just someone at a computer doing something.” Not factory workers. Office workers. The people who spent decades assuming education and desk jobs meant security are actually first. Musk: “Anything that’s physically moving atoms… those jobs will exist for a much longer time.” Output is a file? Vulnerable. Output is physical? Protected. That’s the entire framework. Musk: “AI is really still digital.” AI doesn’t need a body. Doesn’t need an office. Just needs access to the same software you use. Executes faster. Never tires. Costs nothing to scale. But it can’t weld. Can’t wire a building. Can’t fix pipes or work soil. Musk: “Literally welding, electrical work, plumbing. Those jobs will exist for a much longer time.” Trades aren’t the vulnerable jobs. They’re the durable ones. Physical presence, real-world adaptation, manual dexterity provide protection no digital credential offers. Analyst, accountant, paralegal, programmer, anyone producing files and documents, automates first because digital work is exactly what AI does natively. Person moving atoms has natural defense. Physics, unpredictable environments, material resistance create friction AI can’t scale past. Person moving bits has nothing. No friction. No physical barrier. Just software AI already operates better than most humans. The assumption that desk work and degrees represent safety just inverted completely. College graduate producing documents faces faster displacement than the electrician producing installations. Society spent generations telling people trades were beneath them. Pushed everyone toward offices and screens. Turns out the people who didn’t listen built the most automation-resistant careers. Most ironic outcome of the AI revolution. The work society treated as inferior turned out to be the work society couldn’t replace. And the work society valued most turned out to be the easiest to eliminate.
