It was a great day with the staff at Lockport Township HS earlier this week! They are making some changes to their structure this next year and instead of jumping RIGHT INTO work they took time to build trust and connections. Have change coming to your team? Let's chat!

Last wk, our son graduated from college. Next day, he got a call from an indy pro baseball coach and signed his first pro baseball contract w the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer Baseball League—an MLB Partner League. Today we watch him start & pitch in his very first pro game.

We need teachers—now more than ever. It’s the tiny moments that remind them they matter: a smile, a word, being seen. But those moments are hard to sustain without support. Let's help your team build rhythms that last! philboyte.com

More than half of educators are burned out. Nearly half leave within 5 years. It’s not a care problem... it’s a culture problem. Low trust → people leave. High trust → people stay & students thrive. Let's partner to keep your great people: philboyte.com

Helicopter parenting breeds fragility. Our job isn’t to airlift kids over failure, but to coach them through it so they build real resilience. buff.ly/DaHU78e

@philboyte @CoachDavidKlein Truth is, we can make practicing baseball a lot of fun. One area has them taking grounders, another has them taking flies, another has them hitting off of a tee, another has them playing catch, another has them running the bases…keep them moving, engaged, stimulated!

This bothers me. These kids are 3-4 years away from being able to kid pitch baseball that actually looks like baseball. They are being robbed of a fun youth baseball experience. They don’t need to be playing machine pitch. They don’t need to be playing coach pitch. They need to be playing T-ball! The worst part is… This is going on in hundreds of thousands of communities across the US. Misguided rec league boards and parents pushing their kids to play kid pitch too early because they think it’s what’s best for their development. Super frustrating to see. Can someone make me feel better and tell me this is AI? Hope so.

When the work feels heavy… your people feel it too. My new keynote helps educators stay encouraged, reconnect to their purpose, and keep their light burning—especially in the hard seasons. Because their impact matters more than ever! Let's chat: learningforliving.com/phil-boyte

@CoachDavidKlein Absolutely brutal to watch. The so-called pitcher who can't get the ball over the plate is not even the worst part. Almost every single ball gets past the catcher who can't even catch the "pitches". How many fielders decide they don't want to play anymore after enduring this?

@bballer @CoachDavidKlein Yes, so many quit baseball because it is boring at this age or scary. "Way to young" is the key words in your note!

@CoachDavidKlein I took my 10yo this weekend to the batting cages, he semi-struggled to consistently hit ~35 mph pitches. Next cage over, is a coach for a Blue Jays minor league affiliate who says to me “pitch him underhand so he gains confidence in swinging the bat.” He was right

@OTFItsJustUs @CoachDavidKlein At this age (prior to 8-10), they should b playing in the sand box or with their friends in the park. If parents want to start young - play catch with them, do soft toss with them, sit and watch an inning or 2 of a 10-12 yr old game and talk bb. Put the love of the game in them.

@CoachDavidKlein Kid pitch at this age and Tee ball are both incredibly stupid and pointless. Have a coach pitch the ball like all functional little leagues do

@ShawnScrape @CoachDavidKlein Who knows enough about pitching to teach these kids to pitch? I watch 9/10 yr olds every week walk or hit four or five kids every inning simply because they have no idea how to pitch.

@CoachDavidKlein Starting kid pitch at 8 or 9 is also generally a bad idea. They should be past t-ball by then but they honestly should be hitting off of machines until at least 10U. There’s usually about 2.5 kids on each team that can semi-consistently throw strikes. Get them more reps this age.

@HydroFoundry @CoachDavidKlein Absolutely - no organized leagues till 8 at least. play with your friends, play with your parents, play with legos. For the parents who think "don't wait too late" go play with them in the park, yard, etc.
