🇬🇧 After living in the UK, I noticed 5 things Brits truly ace over us Americans. 🇺🇸 From the subtle to the surprising, these differences make UK life calmer, kinder, more human. 🤔 The last one blew my mind! Watch til the end. Agree or disagree? #BeKind in the comments! 😅

Last Friday a CBS reporter sat down to eat what Erling Haaland eats in a day, on camera, for a laugh. She got as far as dinner. The segment ran on CBS Mornings ahead of Norway playing England, and it was billed the way these things always are. Raw milk, tomahawk steaks and bone marrow. The Viking diet. Six thousand calories. Come and gawp at the strange Norwegian and the things he puts in his mouth. Breakfast went down without trouble: four eggs, toast, yoghurt, raw milk. Lunch was an enormous Italian sandwich, Parma ham and burrata and sun-dried tomatoes and rocket and truffle oil and pesto, and that went down too. Then dinner arrived, because Haaland is known to get through two and a half pounds of steak and the bone marrow with it, and that was the end of the experiment. She had to ask the crew to help her finish. Fair play to her for trying it in front of a camera. Very few people reading this would have managed the sandwich. But look again at the list they filmed, because the joke did not land where they thought it did. Eggs. Milk. Ham. Cheese. Steak. Marrow. There is nothing strange on that list at all. Every item of it would have been recognised as dinner by a farmhand in 1900, or by your own great-grandmother, and the whole lot came off an animal or out of a dairy. A butcher could assemble it in about four minutes. What defeated her was not the strangeness. It was the volume. That is the entire story, and CBS filmed it without noticing. Because here is what the segment accidentally documented. A grown adult in a rich country cannot eat the amount of real food that hard physical work actually requires. Not because the food is exotic, but because we have spent sixty years replacing it with things engineered to slide down without effort, and the machinery for handling proper food has gone soft from disuse. Give a modern stomach two and a half pounds of steak and it panics. The desk needs it to be a freak show, mind, because the alternative question is a great deal more awkward. If eggs, milk and beef are just food, and the best striker on the planet is fuelled entirely by things you can buy at a butcher's counter, then what exactly is the rest of the aisle for? They set out to film a man eating strangely. They filmed a nation that has forgotten how to eat.

I met him once boarding a plane. We were stuck in line and i was like "ok..say something..fk do it.. do it...do it" in my head.. He turns once glances at me... smiles and nods... like "yeah i know you know who i am.." and i just go quiet...then he glances back and just says "ask away..." I did the usual "omfg love your work blah blah" and then he asked what I did and then just went into this rathole of how tech and creativity fascinate him and how people do things with computers and then we ended up talking about sheep properties and my life living in the outback... then he splintered off to his seat and mine.. Then we get to our destination, I get off and my wife is waiting for me with the kids and he gets off after me as he was ambushed with people wanting selfies... anyway I tell my wife "guess who's on the plane" and so she now wants to wait around, he then walks past us, nods at me and says "nice meeting you Scott" and continues.. The look my wife gave me at that point in time was like "WTF DID YOU DO.." Anyway. All i remember was here's one guy who could have just waived me off took the time to chat about nothing and still somehow gave me the "you matter too" vibe. Legend. Genuinely sad he's passed.

@Garyb28Gary @butteryballs2 @mrdanwalker This will be put to bed in a hundred years from now when only the skeleton remains. Pretty sure all scientists will agree it's a female's skeleton.

My toddler has been saying "oh dear" constantly in a British accent. We're American. We don't watch British shows. No idea where this came from. It's been three weeks. "Oh dear" when she drops something. "Oh dear" when the dog barks. Very concerned "oh dear" when my husband burned toast. Asked her teacher if they're watching Peppa Pig at daycare. Teacher said no, but she's noticed it too. It's spreading. Four other kids are now saying "oh dear" in British accents. The teacher is baffled. Parents are comparing notes. Someone suggested mass hysteria. Then we found out the elderly crossing guard has been saying "oh dear, careful now" to the kids every morning. She's from Wisconsin. She just has an affect. Fifteen toddlers have developed fake British accents from a crossing guard who isn't British.

It’s the ultimate pissed-up English anthem of all-time. Has almost certainly been belted out towards the end of nights more than any English song in the last 30 years.
