Our new book 'The Latin Hermes in Translation', which our team has been working on since 2021, is finally available through @Brepols! It covers a small handful of important works from the Latin Hermetic tradition, particularly focusing on its reception in medieval philosophy

Conversation is how we overcome distances in worldviews and learn from each other.
And I did mean to give you an argument in what I just I said:
You said it was nonsense to say that something can be immortal now. I gave you an explanation for why it makes sense:
"Immortal" means "being incapable of dieing" and as such it is similar to properties such as "immune" "Immutable" "unbreakable" and so on. Something has such a property even prior to it being put to the test: something in unbreakable even if no one has tried to break it, someone is immune to a disease even if they were not exposed to it, etc. so they are also immortal even prior to the death of their body.
How do you justify the notion that souls are immortal only after their death?
English

@philoantonio I don’t need help. I disagree. That’s it. You state the above as if it’s true but I’m afraid a rational argument needs to be put forward. Plus I haven’t a clue where you’re coming from. I suspect our worldviews don’t meet.

@VenetianGaucho2 Sim sim rsrs eu entendi.

@VenetianGaucho2 @Deathconscius Estamos fazendo o nosso trabalho.

@drsjcostello Something doesn't need to die to be immortal the same way someone doesn't need to exposed to an illness to be immune.
I'm happy to explain what needs explaining to help you.
English

@philoantonio I’m afraid we are too far apart conceptually. Maybe it’s a language barrier too. Immortality comes after death not before. Anyway…there’s too much confusion and lack of clarity for me I’m afraid.
English

@drsjcostello Sure it makes sense, something doesn't have to die to become immortal.
Posterior in the causal order means to be an effect.
Henades are the primary Unities that ground all reality, per Proclus.
English

@philoantonio ‘The life of the psyche NOW is immortal life’ makes no sense. It’s a contradiction. What is ‘henades’? What do you mean by ‘body is posterior in the causal order’?
