Agreeing readily with nearly everything Ivan Illich is saying in Deschooling Society. This almost never happens, and I'm worried I'm just not thinking it through.
And I'm reminded of Plato's Charmides, where moderation is one time defined as the knowledge of knowledge. But here, the lesson of moderation seems to be knowledge of ignorance; more: unrecognized ignorance.
I wonder how this lesson in moderation is to be made compatible with the "enlightened zeal" (as opposed to the later two deceitful kinds of zeal) in paragraph 5.
