Proud to announce a new endeavor in adult education: The Catherine Project. We offer Oxford-style tutorials, on great books and fundamental questions; on related skills (writing, dead languages ...) & peer-led reading groups. No credits, no degrees, no grades, no fixed tuition.

Joanna Newsom's "Monkey & Bear" is an eerily perfect allegory for my relationship to Academia.

And I'm reminded of Plato's Charmides, where moderation is one time defined as the knowledge of knowledge. But here, the lesson of moderation seems to be knowledge of ignorance; more: unrecognized ignorance.

I wonder how this lesson in moderation is to be made compatible with the "enlightened zeal" (as opposed to the later two deceitful kinds of zeal) in paragraph 5.
