Dear Women,
Every day is our day. It isn’t about your appearance or what you have already and will achieve, it is about your love, courage, and audacity to believe and show up. To believe no matter the obstacles or constraints society imposes on you. The broken glass we are walking 👠 on has a good sound to it. Crunch. We aren’t going anywhere.
There is darkness. There are demons of insecurity and the constant feeling we are treading water and hitting our heads against the wall of convention. But ladies, together, there is brightness. I can feel it. I can see it through you. Let that light and darkness run wild and as loudly as you want. This is when we become alive. Together. Don’t listen to what “they” say. You can be fierce, strong, smart, vulnerable, and broken - this is when we are powerful and beautiful - in whatever form that we want and choose, and that can change throughout the years. You cannot be defined. You are uniquely you. You can wear what you want. You can make your own choices about your body. You can race, run, research, rest, and erupt. 🌋
Thank you to every woman that has ever lived to teach me to embrace not only my power within, but the unstoppable power we have together. I celebrate each and every one of you every day. I wish I could go back to my younger self and say, own your truth. Do not be afraid to be you. You are not broken. You are a shattered mosaic of survival and perseverance. You are an unconquerable work of art. I dare others to try to stop you. And if anyone tells you that your shorts are too short or your hair is too long and your body is too strong and your brain is too much, that my dear, is just fuel to your fire to keep letting your authentic self burn hot and bright as you ignite a highway for all those behind you to follow and take courage. This is only because so many women have come before us - setting the world ablaze for a better place for all.
Be bold. Be you. I love you. I celebrate us.

It is this moment that all of us cyclists fear every single day. It shouldn’t be inevitable. It shouldn’t be a thing. It takes lives and makes us live in fear. That doing everything perfectly right still isn’t enough. I was hit by a truck 12 days ago. My life will never be the same. I don’t want to say that I am lucky, but God had a special hand on me that day. I am full of gratitude for my strong support system of my Caregiver 🐻 @blaize_bikes, family, friends, YOU, medical staff, emergency responders, and my always-loving sponsors. There has been so much openness to help, to love us, and to accept that the pain and the recovery to come does not diminish our dreams or our love for the bike.
I know there will be a lot of questions and concerns. Yes, I did hit my head, and you all know I have done that a few times. I have broken bones and suffered injuries. All the colors of the not-so-beautiful rainbow 🌈 show up on my skin as the bruises migrate. I lose count of how many times I cry in a day. Emotions are raw. There is trauma: physical, mental. There might not be podium racing in the foreseeable future for me, but we must be optimistic for the future. It’s the only way.
For now, know that there is mindfulness in healing. This will be daunting, hard, and scary, like it has been for too many of us. The one thing in life that has brought me so much confidence, community, and expression, feels like it was ripped away from me in an instant. What has given me so much, was almost taken away from me, and more than that, almost took me away. But I trust us and the process. I trust that we should all do what we love with who we love. And that if you take care, care should be taken around you. This should not be our normal. We shouldn’t ride in fear. We must be optimistic. We must believe in our dreams. We must live our dreams. Love you all. I’ll see you on a ride in the future. ❤️ 👸🏼

Happiness can just refer to the pleasure we find on a sensory level, but real happiness is related to peace of mind. If we have a calm mind, fear and suspicion are reduced. Fear is a major source of unhappiness.
