Trump: "Biden gave $350 billion to Ukraine. This was insane. It’s one of the reasons the war went on." U.S. aid to Ukraine is not the reason the war continues. It continues because Russia invaded Ukraine and, every day, makes a conscious choice to keep waging war. If they all go home, we won't follow, you know? If he means that without U.S. help, especially in the beginning, much more Ukrainian territory would have been occupied and turned into one gigantic Bucha, then yes, he's probably right. But occupation doesn't end war, it merely masks war crimes and silences the victims.

Shame on us. I think of the brave Afghans that stood alongside us against the Taliban, especially those I worked with personally during my four years in command of the NATO mission there. It is incomprehensible to me that we would not bring them here to the United States, fulfilling the most fundamental obligations of trust and honor. nytimes.com/2026/04/21/wor…

Putin has renamed FSB’s academy back to Dzerzhinsky academy. Polish/Russian revolutionary Felix Dzerzhinsky was the founder of Cheka and the father of Red Terror. The glorification of totalitarian ideology and its genocidal icons proceeds in parallel on both sides of the Russo-Ukrainian war, with intelligence agencies as the main driving force behind the effort. Whitewashing and increasingly vocal support of totalitarianism in its multiple forms is a trademark feature of modern corporate culture in securocratic circles.

fortunately US didn't elect a woman president to prattle on cluelessly about interior decorating in a time of war; if so, calls for her impeachment would be immediate.

In his 5 years as president, Trump has never supported democracy promotion abroad. He's not even a champion of that objective at home. So yes, some of us are a little skeptical about his newfound passion for liberty and freedom for Iranians. But I'm keeping an open mind.

A white woman who is not a doctor and doesn’t believe in science is currently undergoing Senate confirmation hearings to be the US Surgeon General appointed under the president. Black people, don’t EVER let any of these people tell you that you are a “diversity hire” or don’t deserve the roles you have so richly prepared for and earned.

I just listened to the James Talarico interview. Never would’ve heard it otherwise without the FCC chaos. These were his very last words: “They want us talking about furries and bathrooms so we don’t realize that they are picking our pockets, that they are closing our schools, they are gutting our healthcare, and they are raising taxes on all of us while they cut taxes for their billionaire donors. The culture wars are a smoke screen because the real fight in this country is not left versus right; it’s top versus bottom.” Again, the Republicans are going to have to do a whole lot better than “Vote for us because we’re not the left.”

This is a big mistake to allow the aggressor to take something. It was a big mistake at the very beginning, starting with 2014. And even before that, during the attack and occupation of parts of Georgia. And even before that, when Chechnya was occupied, with total destruction and one million casualties – both killed and wounded. Many mistakes were made. That's why now I don't want to be the President who will repeat the mistakes made by my predecessors or other people. I'm not just speaking about Ukraine. I'm speaking about the leaders of different countries that allowed an aggressive country like Russia to come onto their territory. Because you can't stop Putin with your kisses or flowers. I never did it and that's why I don’t feel that it's the right way. My advice to everybody – don’t do that with Putin. Otherwise, there will be a first step, then in five years, he will rebuild his military, increase the number of soldiers, his army will be well trained. Because he has lost a lot of well-trained people. He is losing 30–35 thousand people per month now. Can you imagine this in the 21st century? Can you imagine – he’s losing 35,000 each month? I'm not sure that he knows about it.

Anne Applebaum: "Steve Witkoff has no experience with Russia or diplomacy. I fear he imagines a US-Russia pact where he, his son, Trump's family or their circle benefit personally. It's disturbing that American foreign policy conducted not for the US, allies or world peace, but for private interests. Putin knows Trump is vulnerable to such deals - that's why he keeps suggesting them. Witkoff and Trump's entourage behave like Russians: capture the state, use it for personal wealth."

If you still support Trump and his administration, I don’t judge you for your choice of political party. I judge you for your lack of morals, ethics, compassion & humanity. I judge you for your support of pedophilia, racism, treason & fascism. So will others. So will history.

🧵The best response to the bogus decision by the IOC @Olympics to ban the helmet of @heraskevych and silence the memory of Ukrainian athletes murdered by russia, is to see their faces, learn their names and share it with the world! They want it gone, we’ll show it everywhere!🇺🇦

Today the Olympic committee called a helmet with photos of fallen Ukrainian athletes “propaganda.” Propaganda… the faces of people who were killed by war. These weren’t political slogans. No party symbols. No campaigning. It was a tribute to athletes who will never compete again. Calling memory a “rule violation” isn’t neutrality. It’s cold indifference dressed up in nice words about “keeping sport apolitical.” The Olympics love to talk about values, respect, and humanity. But the moment an athlete shows the faces of their fallen colleagues — suddenly there are bans. Brand advertising — allowed. Million-dollar sponsorships — allowed. Marketing everywhere — allowed. Remembering the dead — forbidden. This doesn’t look like protecting the rules. It looks like being afraid to face reality. Athletes aren’t emotionless machines with no history and no pain. And if honoring the fallen is labeled propaganda, then the problem isn’t the helmet. The problem is the moral blindness of the people making those decisions.
