landfills are a very good spot to birdwatch, and it is very normal for a birding group to stop by a landfill. birds use them as an easy food source. most dumps have infrastructure in place specifically to allow birders to visit. here’s some pictures i took on my last dump visit:

To be passed from human to human it requires close interpersonal contact and typically repeated exposure. That makes it significantly less likely to become a pandemic.
