What disingenguous nonsense. There's a high proportion of children, single mothers as well as old ppl. Approx 50% non working age. Single parents have issues getting work. The Sec Gen noted the unusually high proportion of Ukrainian arrivals who entered workforce immediately.

Coming up on the show live at 12pm: Ireland has spent €6.4 billion in just four years on accommodation alone for asylum seekers, many of whom are here under false pretences. This does not include welfare payments, healthcare costs, vet bills, food, clothing, or travel expenses. On top of this, we are hosting Ukrainian refugees, who have one of the highest rates of unemployment in the country. Per head of population, we have taken in more refugees than almost every country in the EU. Some would argue that Ukrainians should be given a pathway to remain, but with the same entitlements as Irish citizens, to encourage more of them to work. Others would say we have already done enough and that it is time for them to return home, as the war has not affected most parts of their country. Bottom up my hoop. The 12 or so people in the organising group (top secret who they are) decided on the fundamentals of their approach on the night they appointed themselves. Original plan was to block airports and ports and it was announced by their PRO Geoghegan 3 weeks ago.
