Day 2 in Chile, was not good: Attempted car break in (smashed window, nothing taken) followed by our flight north cancelled with 48 hours notice. So half the day spent sorting these issues out; booking new flights, car hire & hotel😡. Only tick of the day: Moustached Turca.

@keelebirder Brilliant - never an easy bird and getting a recording always tricky as well. Would love to see another in Britain, it's been a very long time!

@pilning Cheers. Even managed to record its call, not that it should really be needed to clinch the id.🤔

I thought the day was going well when I found my first Great White Egret of the year on the Inland Sea, early morning. But it would soon get a whole lot better when I found: Anglesey’s second Pacific Golden Plover (Wales’s third?) on the Alaw Estuary!

Mean densities of Small tortoiseshell (A urticae, kleine vos) on Dutch Butterfly Monitoring transects and flexcounts in April 2025 up to now. Once a widespread species, now almost only found in the W and N of the country.

@Severnsidebirds @upstarts1979 @orioleboy66 I have only just seen this as I am a rare visitor to Twitter nowadays - love Shropshire but I miss the old place and all the local birders too. It seems to be getting better and better - have a great spring!

I'm now actively winding down my Twitter life, in favour of Bluesky. It's where a lot of the wildlife folk seem to have migrated + its ownership is also less questionable. A big change after 13 yrs and 20K tweets but seems the best thing to do. Will still check in here now & then

I was SO scared this time last year of imminent bankruptcy as I started my own business, but what an amaze year it’s been! Over a year I’ve been included in projects involving some of our most imperilled habitats and plants, trained consultancies & lots lots more! So happy😍🌱
