Today we are opening the first node on a pipedream network. We've also built our own grocery store for it, and doing both of these has allowed us to start working with some of some of our biggest potential enterprise customers. All with a team of just 10 people. A few s/o's:

It’s crazy to see all the part runner vehicles that exist just to haul something from a car parts store to a dealership. I see a world where @pipedream_labs connects them directly. I feel like McMaster and Grainger would be similar for industrial.

Instead of making a deck for this round, I decided to make one w/ Claude Code. Made it WAY easier to explain @pipedream_labs. Everything is code. (If you're an investor & want to see the redacted parts, lmk. I think our 2 anchor tenants for the network will blow your mind).

The first thing people say when we show them the first @pipedream_labs Network node is that it looks exactly like the render. The team moved heaven and earth to make sure the first location exceeded customer expectations in every way you can see AND every way you can’t.

The last few months at @pipedream_labs we: -Built the first portal store on the Austin Network -Built a Grocery business to seed it with volume -Going vertical attracted some of our biggest possible customers to commit a ton of volume to future networks Can’t wait to show yall!

explanation: underground pipe systems are 1D graphs. adding time, the vertical (Y) axis starts from "now" and goes into the future. as the track is a loop, this graph is actually a cylinder, and a robot's mission is a series of line segments drawn on the surface. a waiting robot is a vertical line. moving at a constant speed is a diagonal line, and acceleration is a curved line. deconfliction simply becomes a puzzle.

@moseskagan Distance impacts time, which is what really matters. Infrastructure also has huge impact on time. If we have systems like @pipedream_labs everywhere, for example, that changes things. Additional moats: Cost of capital Brand Customer experience

Pretty certain last mile logistics will be “fully” autonomous in the near future.. @Waymo @pipedream_labs @CocoRobotics @rivr_tech @zipline So many exciting things already live and in production. Slowly but surely.

I don’t think we’ve shared any rail install publicly, but it’s satisfying to watch. The rail isn’t affixed to the pipe and each joint has a tiny amount of allowable play. This lets it conform to the geometry of installed pipe all on its own. Install, maintenance, and replacements are a breeze. We spent a long time trying to make our system work without rails in the pipe. The robots could run just fine, but junctions, handoffs, and above ground infrastructure was tricky when your robot relies on a pipe to move. Now it’s trivial for us to run robots outside of the pipe, make custom turns, and integrate hardware into the rail and portals. I’m super glad we went this direction, it’s a no brainer in hindsight but that’s how system optimization goes.
