@Everette @pitdesi Just our 2 cents but we (and I bet most game devs - digital or tabletop) prefer existing Kickstarter over "capturing the most value" Kickstarter. It's nice to have a few companies left in our corner that didn't succumb to enshittification.

Don’t count us out yet, but Kickstarter has never been about becoming a 10B dollar company - it’s been about benefitting the world and making a positive impact. There was decisions made when the company started that put us on that path and I’m proud of that. However I do agree with your take on the 32 hour work week, for companies optimizing for high growth and the ultimate output - I would not recommend. Running this company has been a delicate balance, and doing the best under the circumstances given to me.

TIL Kickstarter employees are unionized and work 32 hours a week. They were on strike for 42 days last fall. Kickstarter might be the company that achieved the most cultural significance while capturing the least value... Oculus, Peloton, Oura and many others started there. They could have built a post-campaign commerce layer instead of handing that to Shopify and Amazon. Could have moved into equity crowdfunding. Could have built financial products: production financing for creators, backer insurance, BNPL, factoring for repeat creators. They have pretty good data to underwrite. There's a version of Kickstarter that's a $10B company. I don't think they'll get there with 32 hours a week :(!

@Twitchfactor Nice! Was one of my faves as well - such a great feeling of progression and purpose. Can't believe one can beat the game in 5-10 minutes if you're good at it though (I never beat it)

@pixeljamgames I LOVED Fort Apocalypse. Played it to death on my Atari 1200xl. It's not an accident that it's similar. Fort Apocalypse was an inspiration for it and my other games; Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, etc.
