Spotted in the NYC subway. “Zero screen time.” An iPod Shuffle ad in 2026. When we built the iPod, the goal was the technology disappeared and you could have your music wherever you were. 1,000 songs in your pocket. Now we’re living through a moment where people are actively looking for ways to disconnect from the infinite feed, algos, and constant notifications. That doesn’t mean technology is bad. It means the best technology understands when to step back. Not every problem needs another screen, another menu, or another layer of complexity. Constraints create freedom (read: @DavidEpstein new book Inside the Box). And often removing features creates a better product than adding them. The future of technology shouldn’t just be more engagement. It should help us be more human.

So @alxui_ux blocks me after calling him out for underhandedly trying to pass others work off as his own, including my own work. Instead of sharing the right way, he’ll download your work and leave a vague comment. Then when the work gets praise he thanks the commenters as if he is taking the credit. What an idiot.

This last week in December has made it the most fun December I’ve ever had A Well needed vacation 🥹 Did a couple things for the 1st time too - Celebrated Christmas away from home 😅 - Went bowling - Went rock climbing - Upside down house - Went to 2 Lagos concerts 😅 - Went to a beach (actually swam to the deeper end 💀😂) -1st time on a ferry Did so many other stuff and hung out with some really couple pple.. even made some new friends Not a bad way to sign out for the year 😌

People on this app are so one dimensional it hurts. Doing it in 3D would be the easy way. The reason to do it in Figma is to use a tool for something it initially wasn’t intended thus having to „bend“ the tool at hand. Doing „3D“ in a 2D software means you need to fully understand the functions as well as forms and depth. The goal is to use a tool to its full potential and see what’s possible. Anyone commenting „WhY NoT dO iT iN 3D??!“ is entirely missing the point and will never grow past any tool. Great work Steve keep it up!

The interaction is focused on the thumb-able zone which focuses on making the experience more comfortable for the user. Something I’ve practiced for almost a decade now in mobile app design. Try it. It’s challenging but fun.
