@JacobsBen Imagine the punishment that’s going to be handed down with the 115 charges or Chelsea for paying players off the books given this ruling….oh!

🚨 BREAKING: Southampton have been expelled from the playoffs by an Independent Disciplinary Commission after the club “admitted to multiple breaches of EFL regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other clubs’ training.” Middlesbrough will now face Hull City on May 23. Saints also receive a four-point deduction for the 2026/27 season. Southampton admitted breaches of the observation of training sessions within 72 hours of a scheduled match. The fixtures against Oxford United in December 2025, Ipswich Town in April 2026 and Middlesbrough in May 2026 all cited. Saints have a right to appeal and with parties intending to resolve on May 20.

@JamesPearceLFC Bring back the halcyon days when the refs were just bad…it’s just not the same since Howard Webb came in and made them shockingly bad.

I know Celtic fans won’t agree but, as dramatic as today has been, that’s an awful outcome for Scottish football. If Celtic can cycle through three managers, struggle for most of the season, yet win the title anyway, what does it say about the state of the game up there?

@HoltChris @kevinhatchard But city have the biggest commercial revenues in world football so surely they have more than working class fans from Manchester?! Totally agree re being there all the time and cost by the way.

I say it all the time but I hate this. City’s fans are mostly working class from Manchester, they were at Wembley a few weeks ago, they’re there every year, they go deep into CL every year. There’s only so much anyone can afford. The issue here is FA Cup semi finals at Wembley
South Stand Pies@SouthStandPies

The most successful team in England in the last ten years and there were 10,000 empty Man City seats at Wembley. And that’s after they gave some to Southampton! Embarrassing. #MNCSOT

@bagger_aim @Pecunious365 They will carry on paying the Div. and reduce it as assets are sold and capital returned to shareholders. Probably take a couple of years to complete liquidation.

@LewisSteele_ Ignore the net spend. Trent low fee and Jota. Plus most £ spent not been available. This team is dire at the moment and not good enough but stop being lazy!

These teams went toe to toe a year ago, then Liverpool spent £450m, PSG only £100m (and sold the best player in that tie, Gigi Donnarumma)... but one team has gone hugely backwards and the gap between them now huge. #LFC played off park and got away with one that it's only 2-0.

@StephenEvans75 1st half dire, much better 2nd. Draw probably fair and we will play worse and win. It’s a poor city team too. Just can’t see how it improves results wise from here though. Selling Diaz was shocking but these players are better than this…

Tough one to take that today, thought we were good second half, and deserved more than we got. That Guehi pull on Mo was right in front of me, no way he’s anything but clear through on goal, clear red card for me. Once they equalized just knew what was coming unfortunately.

@andywhite1143 Zero pace too. It’s fixable but it will take 4-5 players (replacing CB and Salah in that). I’d also take TAA back in a heartbeat.

Just wrote 3 negative tweets and binned them all. Say what you like but that result is not entirely on Slot IMO. Main issues: 1. Individuals errors for each goal. 2. More injury disruption 3. No 6 4. No CB cover 5. We can’t play 2 games a week with this depth of squad.

@DaleJohnsonBBC They’re all over the place with this sadly. ‘Line of vision’..but the footage doesn’t show that. ‘Obvious movement’…to avoid being in the way…Webb is overseeing this total shambles. We were awful btw but Oliver did what Oliver does…he used to be the best too but he’s awful.

Would say here that "not unreasonable" was used because the decision is about as subjective as it gets. Both onside and offside could be supportable. So saying it was "correct", thus implying onside would be incorrect, probably wouldn't be useful.

Premier League referees' chief Howard Webb has backed his officials, saying it was "not unreasonable" for Virgil van Dyk's goal to be disallowed for offside against Manchester City. Webb also supported the VAR decision not to change the on-field call. bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

Michael Oliver talking about "line of vision" in the audio when at no stage is Robertson in the keeper's line of vision. Howard Webb: "The VAR determines that the decision is not clearly and obviously wrong so stay out of it. They concluded that the action impacts Donnarumma and his ability to reach the ball and make the save."

That audio from the officials at the Etihad on Sunday after Van Dijk's goal was ruled out is remarkable. Assistant VAR Tim Wood: "It's a clear and obvious action which clearly impacts the goalkeeper." VAR Michael Oliver: "Yeah, confirming the on field decision. Andy Robertson is in an offside position very close to the goalkeeper and makes an obvious movement directly in front of him."

Patient approach in possession to entice opposition forward for what? We have very little in behind threat. And losing ball constantly in that phase affects output of front 3 . What was plan because watching this group there doesn’t seem to be one
