@ChoochSkookum We've made that mistake several times now. "Obvious" net drain on the ecosystem, surely we'll all benefit from it being gone, and then, oh, fuck, oops.

How are they manufacturing these ticks that are suddenly everywhere. Do they have mammals in a cage that they use to feed and multiply the ticks?

Ok, gloves off. Fuck it. CCP wants US open borders to dissolve the US and render it dysfunctional. FSB wants US closed borders to maximize multipolarity / break ties with allies in their backyard. Anybody pushing for any of these extremes is a useful idiot to foreign agents.

@beerandtokens In 1985, I was making $5/hr and paying $400/month for a 1-bdrm apartment; so like 60%+ of my monthly salary went to pay my rent. Avg price in my city for an apt now is $1200-1400, with min wage at $15. It's about the same ratio of income as the 80s.

Exactly. They are out of touch. They don’t realize that life’s necessities have gotten exponentially more expensive. Housing, medical care, insurance, education and childcare. While “luxuries” are exponentially cheaper compared to 30-40years ago. Netflix costs me $14.99 a month. With that I can watch a thousand movies for the same cost you would pay to go to the movies 20 years ago. But you know what’s more expensive. The fact that I need to make $52k a year to even qualify for an apartment in my area which requires proof of at least 3x the rent monthly income.
Informed Consent Matters (Miri AF)@MattersInformed

@beerandtokens Do these people know what Netflix costs? It's £6 a month. Not a day. Not a week. A month. The price of a single movie ticket. Imagine telling the older generation "the reason you can't buy a house is because you went to the movies once a month".

People in the replies pushing back that “Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai & Sanjay Mehrotra didn’t found their companies.” True… they’ve all only just >10x’d the value the their companies since taking over as CEO. Creating massive wealth & prosperity for Americans in the process.

The US tech industry would be a shadow of itself without immigrants. First 10 examples that come to mind: 1. Elon Musk (South Africa) 2. Andrej Karpathy (Czechoslovakia) 3. Sergey Brin (Russia) 4. Jensen Huang (Taiwan) 5. Satya Nadella (India) 6. Ilya Sutskever (Russia) 7. Sundar Pichai (India) 8. Lisa Su (Taiwan) 9. Fei-Fei Li (China) 10. Sanjay Mehrotra (India)

Two kinds of people in the world. Those that believe like LKY that US econ dominance is based on being able to hire world's most ambitious, smartest people in a meritocratic space, and those that think if their friend worked at Google instead, US firms would still be dominant.

They said immigrants were taking jobs. They said immigrants were causing crime. They said immigrants were the problem. They were lying. Billionaires rigged the economy. Immigrants built it.
