Making some major layout and readability improvements to the API Docs as part of a major update to the Kinopio public API

My favorite ad from vol.1 is this hand drawn one by @daylightco, no idea if they'll be sponsoring vol.2 as well tho. 3/3

When thinking about how to approach the ad, I looked at all the ads in vol.1 and they were generally clean and abstract or high-concept. So I went in a more maximalist direction with a space screenshot that you could meander around. 2/3

Based on the sticker sheet, mocked up this quick business card design. not sure if i'll use/print it though. Would be cool if it was possible to make the back of the card a sticker too

just launched taste genealogy -- a living map of music taste built using the are.na api. it pulls from some of my favourite @AREdotNA music channels into one place. mixes, scenes, atmospheres, sonic fingerprints. taste-genealogy.site

@jaesmail I think that's twitter (and social media) in general. The number of actual practitioners are super low relative to bandwagon boosters. That imbalance might be human nature, but imo curators/taste-makers should feel like part of their job is exposing outside-the-box stuff

Startups have always hosted events, made launch videos, sold merch, created media properties, etc. It's the same few dozen people doing all of these things with any quality now, and an even smaller group thinking outside of the box, while the rest of the industry just yaps.

What frustrates me about "narrative," "storytelling," "experiences," and whatever other buzzwords get popular amongst tech folks is that there'll be months where everyone is talking about them, but on aggregate, there is little additional creativity around any of these ideas.

Added a 'none' header font option to use the default Helvetica font-stack

Hot take: I don't hate the new electric Ferrari, but it feels like it's not quite finished. Just sprinkle a bit more new Testarossa-style nip tucks and it would work. The price (like all modern Ferraris) is stupid ofc.

To print the Kinopio stickers, I had to split it into 2 layers: one with the stickers to kiss cut out and one with the background for the sheet. The background layer reminds me of "Who's That Pokémon" (or a crime scene photo)

@navanchauhan oh yikes. What if you linked your passkey to 1password (or equivalent) instead of to your phone OS?

@pketh I just don’t like the fact that if I’m RDPed to my machine, I can’t scan the QR code because passkeys need BLE

@progrium bad implementations due to premature or vague specs could salt the earth by leading end-users to not trust the standard, or just generally discourage them from trying to understand how their data is being secured

Hard to have sympathy for anyone fired at meta. They chose to work for the modern version of a cigarette company who's main business is selling addiction to kids and olds.
