we have some notes about tinkerer and mage for the eventual 1.1 balance patch. I think a lot of the community has settled on a "I want my basic attack to do big damage" meta and so the classes where that's not the focus tend to get treated a bit unfairly. during private beta tinkerer and mage were some of the most common ways testers did turn-1 kills on major bosses

@BrandonG_real @archer_uwu Trying to dodge through tightly knitted bullet patterns with terraria’s flight controls is like trying to thread a needle with Parkinson’s. Percise movements are incredibly difficult to make considering how acceleration/decceleration of your character works.

@BrandonG_real @archer_uwu Making a boss like so and not accounting for the players lack of movement control makes for frustrating gameplay. It creates dissonance between you and your character, as you realize you need to avoid something, but ur character takes a while to get to where you want it to move.

@BrandonG_real @archer_uwu Bullet hell games, where acceleration/stopping is instant and snappy, meaning you can easily we’ve through projectiles with precise and accurate movements. That’s simply not possible in terraria unless you give the player a mount or accessory that makes their movement like so.

There’s normally a full second of time where the player character has to build up to their max speed instead of hitting it instantly. This is unlike most-
