BREAKING: Microsoft just announced several major changes to Windows 11 in an effort to win back user trust and evolve the platform into something people will actually want to use over macOS and Linux! It's a huge announcement that addresses Windows 11's biggest problems today, tackling core fundamental issues such as unreliable system performance, UX consistency, AI bloat and general enshittification. Microsoft has confirmed that this year, it WILL be reducing where ads and Copilot appear throughout the system, including in Start, Widgets, Notepad, Photos, and more! File Explorer and Windows Search will be upgraded with improved performance and capabilities that make finding apps and files much faster and easier. The OS will become lighter with less RAM and system utilization at idle, making it smoother to run on low end hardware with limited memory. These improvements will also benefit high-end PCs too. Windows Update will be improved with more granular controls and the ability to postpone updates for longer, along with reducing how often the OS needs to restart to install an update. Microsoft has also confirmed that it's bringing back fan favourite features such as the ability to move the Taskbar! It's also working to update more areas of the system shell with modern WinUI designs, which should make Windows 11 feel more coherent and complete. There's much more in the announcement, and it honestly all sounds too good to be true. Microsoft really is listening to feedback, and is eager to make Windows the BEST desktop OS on the market. More details including when these changes will arrive in the link! windowscentral.com/microsoft/wind…

@eliloo6 Godot works and look very similar to Unity. It should be easy to get started in depending on your experience. There are many good tutorials on youtube. Just search "godot tutorial"

@CuteVaniPlap @obscuravpn .. then the new fight becomes moving everyone you communicate with to apps that are not looking for that Digital ID API to function :(

@FR3NKD_DEV Reminds me of the idea in Unity where one uses ScriptableObject as a way to share variable data with various game objects. In this case Godot's Resource type.

I have a dream...to make a set of truly generic nodes in Godot Engine that let me build 90% of my game with no code. But I'm starting to doubt that it's even possible! This is VariableToText (not the best name), it display a variable as a label's text. But assume you have a setter that emits a signal for that variable, and that the variable is in a resource. So it's not really generic, but I don't know what else to do 🥲

Needed an easier way to mass edit and compare the item definitions in new game project so I made a tabular data list editor thing. #GodotEngine

I love how easy it is to add custom stuff to the #GodotEngine editor side. In this case I wanted enum flags to render on one line to free up more space in the inspector.

@Jonathan_Blow I switched to Directory Opus. Works great and can customize it to look the way I want... closer to Dolphin file manager I use on Linux in this case.

Software Quality Update: Windows' built-in file copy just hangs now, when I am copying 20 ogg files. Nice.

This thread was getting a bit old, and guess what... I have an update to bring, this time with fake Twitch channels! How key resellers create fake Twitch channels with 15/20k subscribers to ask free keys from developers? Let's go 🧵
Hegor@H3gor

#Indiedevs PR folks! This will more likely speak to smaller devs, but I guess everyone could be interested! Basically, how key resellers create fake Youtube channels with 15k subscribers to ask free keys from developers? Bear with me, this will be a little long... [1/10]

Terrain3D: We recently had a dev meeting to discuss plans. In short: * A 1.1 release candidate will come soon after a few more PRs are merged. 1.1 stable will be released a few weeks after. * 2.0 has already started development and it will support a GPU based, non-destructive workflow. * The 1.x branch will be maintained for a while to support older cards (pre 2010), and will gradually enter maintenance mode. Read more about our vision and plans for coming features: tokisan.com/terrain3d-gpu-…

@KrakenCombo Can't you now remove buttons that irritates you in that toolbar? I think you right-click on it for options.

I wanted to try Unity 6.4 version. Every tool I've made broke, 100+ console errors, URP API errors everywhere, and on top of that a new "AI" menu? Guess I'm downgrading again lmao #gamedev #indiedev

@MjTheHunter If I were to do those kinda states I'd just use normal classes rather than nodes. Only use nodes when you need magic function calls like ready/process and collisions or something that really needs to be in the tree to function.

My godot states are nodes with scripts, not empty placeholders. Each state defines its behavior. The statemachine owns transitions and lifecycle. Clean, readable, and easy to extend. For me, the thought of having one long script is just too much for my beginner coder brain tbh
