My first morning in the US. Flying again today to my new home in upstate New York where I've been settled. Many of you ask why would I choose to go there? Refugees have no say where they are placed. I'll make the best of it. Luckily, the US is huge, and I could always move to anywhere where there's work for me. So this is just my launch pad. There's so many beautiful states I want to see. Can't wait for my parents and my dog to get here as well. My best friends are also applying with their two kids. I have also convinced some cousins to look into it. Thank you President Trump! I love America! USA USA USA!!!

@PieterVand37940 2 years ago for a cat + German shepherd was R85k. Only certain airlines will fly bigger dogs. They flew Qatar JHB-Doha-Atlanta. No quarantine. Our pets adjusted instantly. Rentals charge rent for pets but very doable.

The cost is around R50 000 per dog the size of a Jack Russell. Also the animal will have to be quarantined for a while. Rental requirements regarding animals are tight and expensive. No fencing around houses. Lastly the animals would struggle to adapt to the climate.

My research on my relocation- I'm moving to a blue state, but in a city that's purple surrounded by a red-leaning conservative county which Trump won by 60%. I'll experience all four seasons. Low traffic, short commutes. Very excited. Looking for a job and I'm not even there yet.
