@shedrinkswater 🙋🏻♀️Thank you for sharing and for so eloquently explaining this lovely weirdness of ours. I am usually unable to effectively explain this to family, friends. 😊
English

Deeply sensitive people, especially those who absorb reality at an almost excessive depth, often struggle to process things instantaneously, and they are painfully aware of that internal lag. It takes them a significant amount of time to fully realise and metabolise what they are experiencing.
Because of this, navigating ordinary social environments in the effortless way people are expected to becomes incredibly difficult. They become overwhelmed almost immediately because everything reaches them with too much intensity. It is all too much at once. You want to cry, laugh, move freely, participate in what everyone else is doing, yet something inside you restrains you. It feels as though some invisible force is holding you back, preventing complete surrender to the moment. And then the terrifying question emerges: what exactly are you so afraid of?
It is difficult to exist in that state constantly, perpetually feeling disconnected from everyone around you, as though you simultaneously understand everything and nothing at all. You are aware, deeply aware even, but awareness alone does not help. You recognise the direction your life, body, and psyche are trying to move toward, yet something within you still resists taking the actions necessary to follow that awareness fully.

@JasonRobertC No judgement from me! I ruminate and procrastinate like they’re an Olympic sport.
English

@bvbauld @seaviking54 @athenaeumbc I heard this in the voice of Alan Rickman’s character in Galaxy Quest and I giggled effortlessly.
English

@seaviking54 @athenaeumbc Yes, how effortlessly one peruses this list.

@MichaelCue97159 @PrayTheRosary We also have rosary 30 min before every mass and I absolutely love it! Sat mass is at 4:30 pm and Sun at 9 am and 11 am.
English

@PrayTheRosary Rosary starts at 8:30 a.m. on Sundays and at 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays with Mass following.
English

@JasonRobertC Ah yes, rumination, the intellect’s favorite way to procrastinate!
English

@pluckyneon Why make a decision when you can ruminate on it forever? 🤔🤣
English

@NonNobis79 @Joeinblack Yes, absolutely avoidant behavior. Working on it. 😊 Interesting point on judging. I’ve not considered until now that judging people is the just the mirror opposite of seeking validation. Both serve our ego by looking to others. Both separate us from God.
English

@pluckyneon @Joeinblack yes, the same goes for judging people, it's ultimately looking towards other people instead of God.
other people are simply not relevant in that context.
The desire for connection becomes disordered because avoidance behaviour.
English

When wrestling with a habitual sin or really any kind of sin, it’s helpful to pause and ask Jesus “what am I seeking when I do this?”
We rarely sin for no reason; sin doesn’t want you thinking of things too deeply, let alone thinking with the mind of God.

@justice4all77 @PrayTheRosary I’ve been looking for something like this! Thanks for sharing!
English

@PrayTheRosary Just finished Between Two Fires, a medieval horror. Outside of what I normally read but was interesting with lots of Christian references and a battle of angels and demons with humans in the middle kind of story
English

@SeanTrende That was the best part of a road trip!! Looking at the trip-tik and planning every stop!
English

Every trip, my mother would take a trip to AAA and get the directions printed out on a “trip-tik” that was like a pamphlet on how
To go somewhere.
Giɴ@Demeter_Erinia
Serious question… How did people get to places before GPS??
English

@NonNobis79 @Joeinblack For me, it’s usually both. I may be seeking connection but looking in places that don’t serve me well. Connection is good but not outside God’s will and not when I use it to numb myself to avoid the pain of going inward. Disordered desire.
English

@Joeinblack I realised that in my case one of the main motivations wasn't looking for something, but rather avoidance.
For example if you look for validation with people it is on a deeper level avoidance of what God wants and values.
