A new French start-up called Egide is developing a drone interceptor called Arges. It will have capabilities similar to those of a missile, and will eventually cost the same as a Shahed. “We are developing a drone interceptor equipped with a warhead that can destroy a Shahed drone. With a range of ten kilometres and the ability to reach an altitude of six kilometres, it can create an air defence bubble. It can fly at speeds between 400 and 600 km/h. Our goal is to destroy a Shahed and detonate its warhead. Unlike other kinetic interceptors currently available from Harmattan AI or Alta Ares, it is not just a kinetic interceptor.”
