This is a wonderful story but I don't think that "migrants" should have to behave like superheroes before they are treated like human beings. Being a human being should be the only prerequisite to being treated like a human being. And that applies in the UK just as much as France twitter.com/BBCBreaking/st…

#BSG2018 To sum up, we have had some fantastic questions relating to what makes a good mentor, who could be involved and why, the advantages of a formal process and some of the specifics around signing up and the process itself. Many thanks again to all who have participated!

@Jonathansegal85 #BSG2018 Completely agree again! I wish I had such powers over individual Trusts(!) but we should absolutely be promoting the benefits of mentorship to organisations and patient care as well as to individuals

@pneild #bsg2018 I suspect many consultants would love more of a mentorship role but are limited by the demands of their day jobs. Should we be promoting freeing up sessions for those who want to be dedicated mentors?

@Jonathansegal85 @FrontGastro_BMJ @BSGTrainees #BSG2018 I think we can all recognise some people in our lives who have such skills naturally, but there is also a degree of individuality in what works for different people and undoubtedly a no. of tools/development skills which can help all of us reach our potential

#BSG2018 mentorship is an active process and the mentee should have an active role and not simply expect passive support. What so @BSGTrainees think of this? Do you agree @pneild

#BSG2018 Completely agree Jonathan. Mentorship can provide a confidential space to explore many challenging and difficult problems and questions by someone with understanding of many of the issues

#BSG2018 Although there are many excellent mentors, a formal structure provides a framework which everyone understands and support for those involved in the mentoring relationship
