Cherie Wong, executive director of Alliance Canada Hong Kong, says the diaspora has been warning about Chinese interference in elections for years - but many are afraid to speak out.

"It's not about Kenny Chiu running or not. The critical thing today is whether we take this foreign interference... seriously." The former Conservative MP says Canada needs to send a message to Beijing, Tehran and Moscow that it will protect its democracy & diaspora communities.

Fred DeLorey, who served as 2021 Conservative national campaign manager, says while a public inquiry into alleged foreign interference would be "great political theatre," he thinks the Parliamentary committee with top secret clearance may be a better mechanism to investigate.
