More evidence of the superiority of Indo-futurist aesthetics, especially vis a vis PRC counterparts.

Indian architects are quietly setting the pace for what architecture should truly be. Deep overhangs, lush greenery woven into living spaces, courtyards that breathe, large openings for light and cross ventilation, materials that age beautifully. Homes designed for living!

Currently reading: The Gut Microbiome — Bench to Table by Vivian C.H. Wu.
One concept keeps stopping me mid-page.
Cultured food products.
We have been eating them for thousands of years in India.
We just never called them by that name.
Cultured foods are foods transformed by live microbial activity, bacteria, yeast, or moulds, that change the food’s chemistry, bioavailability, & gut health impact.
Here is what that means in your Indian kitchen right now.
Homemade dahi, cultured by Lactobacillus delbrueckii and Streptococcus thermophilus overnight
Homemade achar, cultured by Lactobacillus plantarum and Leuconostoc mesenteroides over days
Idli and dosa batter, cultured by Lactobacillus and Leuconostoc over 8–12 hours
Dhokla, cultured fermented chickpea batter
Lassi & chaas, cultured dairy with live probiotic cultures
Kanji, cultured fermented carrot or beetroot water from North India
Every single one of these is a scientifically validated cultured food product.
The same category as yoghurt, kefir, kimchi, & sauerkraut, foods the global wellness industry sells at premium prices.
India has been making them for free in every kitchen for centuries.
The bench science is finally catching up to the table wisdom.

In his first speech as Tamil Nadu chief minister, Vijay said that he grew up in poverty, and that he even knows what hunger is. It's bullshit because he was my classmate in the third standard in Loyola School.
His father was a filmmaker who set up his son for a career in films.
It is possible that like most filmmakers his father may have had periods of financial strife but that's not the same as Tamil-grade poverty. A lot of affluent boys confuse being broke with poverty. Two very different things.
