This is a good post and I agree with everything except the section dedicated to glazing Solana. > That new gen tech will be 1.1x+ better than [your bags]. Yep, exactly this. > What about Solana? It’s great at XYZ… just not competing with Eth. No, it’s literally the poster child of the statement above. Hyper-competitive environment backed by literal comic-book villain VCs (ex Alameda), who got in at 1/10,000th of the price and are dumping inflation on retail perpetually. Doesn’t even pretend to care about being cypherpunk. I don’t always see eye to eye with the Ethereum roadmap and dev community, but at-least I know that Vitalik and core research are all aligned in trying their hardest to build a trustless transparent financial ecosystem to provide real value to the world, cypherpunk idealists. So I respect the ecosystem and the builders, and I believe that the presence of Ethereum is a huge net positive for blockchain as a whole and they have done great work in terms of helping legitimize blockchain and fix the public perception of it as degen gambling casinos, pump and dump schemes and ruggers. I do not respect Solana. It’s a net negative for the space. Ideologically the core developers and contributors are completely in opposition to cypherpunk values, and to creating a fair trustless transparent financial platform. They only care about maximizing TPS, volume, KPIs, and profit, at the expense of literally everything else. As it stands, the best way to maximize volume and usage is to support and encourage degen casino, pump and dump, and serial rugger use-cases (because the generate tons of retail volume by promising flashy yield and promises of generational wealth); and so they heavily facilitate these protocols. This delegitimizes crypto, and actively hurts the work that other serious people are doing to change the perception of crypto and to actualize cypherpunk ideals.
