fandom is so fucking weird. making fanfic isn’t disrespectful it’s a love letter to the art, but how dare you make fanfic of a fanfic! I remember when people used to make fanfic based on my fics/AUs or taking place in the same universe and I absolutely adored it, it was so fun

@the_corvidae Person said they want to continue the already established fanfic not write one based on it. I’ve read fics that were based or inspired on other fics. What the person commented isn’t that

@thegrowingstone @the_corvidae that's literally what writing a fic on someone else’s fic is. "Take over", that's what y'all do when you write the continuation of a tv show you like! You can ask the author, but you don't have to.

@the_corvidae I feel like there's a difference between writing a fic based on someone else's fic and trying to take over someone else's fic from where they left off. Plus, it's a little disrespectful to ask other readers if you should continue the fic rather than the author themselves
