@DemGovs @maura_healey Wrong, she’s spending $25,000 on people who otherwise couldn’t afford a house to buy their votes. That’s why she’s doing it DURING AND ELECTION YEAR! houses have been hella expensive for her ENTIRE term.

@Verakus87 @davec_NH The sisters have a combined majority of the company. Artie is still the largest single shareholder. There was no choice… unless he gets investors to buy out their shares which is doubtful.

@ChrisWa66328901 @davec_NH They sell volume, are a family run business and keep almost all jobs the can in house. Oh and they don’t buy from suppliers on credit they pay cash so they can get favorable prices with cash payments. That’s if I’m remembering thing correctly.

@renaissancecrab No, that was real life. In the SNL sketch, Clinton said something about diplomacy, and Palin responded with “I can see Russia from my house”. That is BASED on what happened in real life, her claiming that being able to see part of Russia from Alaska was foreign policy experience.

“But if you get rid of property taxes on primary residences, you’ll have to raise sales taxes!” So what? A consumption tax is always preferable to the state de facto owning your home.

@NotThatHughes It’s more that no one would want to pay what the business has to charge if they’re forced to raise wages. I’m sure the only reason governments raise minimum wage is for more tax revenue. If it wasn’t in the US they wouldn’t raise the cap on earning for benefits.

My business is only viable if I underpay my workers

Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪@PeterMcCormack

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@Half_A_Pond It might not go up that high but with more demand of a limited supply they may get harder to purchase. There are only so many chickens any given store can cook a day.

The rotisserie chickens will be $16.99 now and you still have to pay for everyone else’s out of your paycheck through SNAP. Brought to you by the Tyson Foods lobby and your duly elected republican majority.

SNAP to include HOT ROTISSERIE CHICKEN. 384-35! Doesn’t only include my crew’s favorite + affordable $4.99 Costco rotisserie 😜 — but ANY hot rotisserie. Feeding families: a (rotisserie) chicken in every pot. 🇺🇸

@TrollyP71 I don’t know but all we are having being built in Salem is luxury condos and apartments (with minimum low income for tax breaks) 250 came on the MKT recently and both 130 are being built by the MBTA station. There talks of a south Salem station and HUGE development adjacent.
