Rupert Lowe's Restore Party in Makerfield is causing a stir in the Wigan by election. His robust attitude to immigration has rightly attracted respect & support, but have some of his disciples gone too far? One, @Steve_Laws_, who I note has unfollowed me, has said to Jewish podcaster @AndrewGold_ok “I’m looking at you as a Jew and I’m telling you, you are foreign.” Let me quickly say I have met Steve a number of times & he has always been polite & civil to me. Although I am Baptised Christian, my mother's, mother is Jewish & that side of the family dates back to 1670 when Oliver Cromwell allowed Jews back into England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. I might as well pack my bags, can anyone give me a life to the airport? *Joke* I have robust opinions on immigration, which must me one of the few far-right, blonde haired, blue eyed, NAZI, Jews in Britain 🇬🇧. *End of joke* I welcome robust debate on immigration & support free speech. Much of it has shown the people who oppose mass & illegal immigration are secret moderates who only want people who want to assimilate & integrate to live here. Many of us have people across the racial & religious divide who are friends. I'd add the so-called far-right are probably the most integrated community in Britain. We don't give a damn about your sexuality race or religion, we only want to hear👂 your ideas. I have the feeling that Laws' intervention may do more harm than good. Nigel Farage seems to have the balance right, & he was howled at for years as a "racist". Certainly Laws criticisms of Jews is beyond the Pale, who are our most integrated of Britons. To be fair to Lowe he did say he supported Israel in the conflict. jewishnews.co.uk/toxic-antisemi…

@oJARDINEo Reform are indeed too weak. You can't trust them to do what they say. Rupert has already shown he will put British people first with the rape gang inquiry.

Had a nice chat with an older gentleman while canvassing. Based af. Served in the army for 25 years, but he's completely given up on voting. Always love speaking to normal working-class people who tell it like it is. Also bumped into a Reform supporter. Millions must go. 🛫

Spreading the word about @RestoreBritain_ around Makerfield. Really appreciate the pubs being so welcoming & the locals intrigued. We need to reach everyone who’s given up on voting. 🇬🇧

@MillennialWoes @frankwrighter Nationalism for me but not for thee. All populist groups were only allowed to get to the top if Israel first was part of the agenda. Absolute stinking hypocrites, who then complain about being hated.

So I've been saying that I will not say anything bad against @RobKenyonReform, but after this video I've changed my tune x.com/RobKenyonRefor… In this clip he posted, he's clearly lying through his teeth 💯 I have a very strong aversion towards people who lie. I suspect the Reform hierarchy may have put him up to it, but my estimation of Rob has now gone dramatically down. I can't tolerate liars & cheats. Maybe he is in the correct party after all with the other liars. I'm disappointed because I thought at least the good people of Makerfield had 2 good candidates, so if the worst came to the worst and Reform won, at least Rob would be a good person. I'm sad to have seen him stoop this low really 😕

@Nick_Walker12 @RestoreBritain_ Whether or not someone would actually implement the policies they are presenting, is absolutely relevant in that discussion, though. This is not just mud slinging.

If Restore is a vanity project for Rupert Lowe, Reform shouldn’t have any trouble destroying it without resorting to a wave of media attacks calling it a vanity project.
spiked@spikedonline

Rupert Lowe’s vanity is off the charts. His party, Restore Britain, is shaving votes from Reform UK in Makerfield. This could hand a victory to Andy Burnham and let the ‘King of the North’ become PM. Restore is the enemy of populism, says Brendan O’Neill buff.ly/DbiUXiS

Bournemouth beach today. We need to complete the Victorian dream for the place: a direct tram from the train station to pier. 45 min high speed shuttles from London. Infinity pools & funicular railways striating east & west cliff. Let a 1000 lidos bloom.

@Princess_Isolde You say "hard data" though like it's hard facts or something. Regardless, people should vote for what they want, not some contrived stepping stone; that's how we've ended up with successive shit governments.

"If Restore were a bigger party, I'd vote for them." How will they get bigger, if everyone takes this approach? You're waiting to see them get 2nd or 3rd place, but how will that happen without votes? We need to vote for what we actually want. Now.
JARDINE@oJARDINEo

Canvassing for Restore Britain today, I spoke to some young lads, this lad made some good points. Basically what Reform supporters are saying everywhere. I get it, but I won’t vote Reform. I reject their cancel culture (calling police on Rupert). They also won’t deport the Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs or their families. Anyone involved in the cover-up must go. 🛫

@polgrimer This isn’t about a feeling or hunch, it’s about the hard data, which I presented.Restore may have won in Rupert’s constituency, but this is very different. If you are a true right-wing patriot, it’s Country first to get the socialists out. Then the right can find the way forward.

@Princess_Isolde Not with that attitude. All we need is for the people of Makerfield to vote. Did you see the council election results in Great Yarmouth? Insane numbers. Something is happening out there. Don't deny it.

@polgrimer The right must unite behind REFORM UK. This data is reliable. We can iron out the way forward after. Country first, finish Labour. Without Burnham, Labour’s saviour, they will collapse. VOTE REFORM UK.

@andrewlawrence Andrew, are you unaware that pretty much all of the Reform leadership have shown at least one instance of scummy, character-damning behaviour since they truly arrived on the scene in 2024? I could go through them all for you, if you want? Or are YOU the useful idiot?

@FUDdaily You mischaracterise Reform here though, and the Tories, for that matter, to make them all appear on the same level. But it is not true. Restore may not be perfect, but the other two options are rotten to the core. x.com/polgrimer/stat…
Polgrimer@polgrimer

I just feel like it's utterly damning for Reform in terms of integrity and character. I cannot trust their whole leadership at all. From Anderson being paid to join the party, and acting buddy-buddy with Rupert, only to leak his dog's death, to Tice's "I'll be long gone." They're all rotten.

A lot of people assume my attacks on Reform and Restore are partisan. They really aren't. Party politics wise, I have no dog in the fight. The parties of the right are completely inadequate. The Tories cannot be trusted because of who they are, Restore is a slop party that will peck itself to death with internal bickering, and Reform is a shambolic populist mess that won't hold together more than three years in office - particularly because it has never resolved a fundamental ideology. I don't dare to predict what will happen at the next election. It could just as easily be a hung parliament, producing a "unity coalition" to prevent Reform from forming a government, or it could be a Reform-Tory alliance. Either way we don't get stable, functioning government - and the things that really need to be done will not be done. Britain isn't getting fixed without unprecedented deportations, fundamental welfare reform and sweeping tax reform. That's not going to happen. We may get a little bit more than marginal tinkering from a Reform government, and it might temporarily arrest the decline, but it's not going to fix what is broken. In that event, I can see Farage being ousted, shoved out in disgrace, and quarter of the party will quit to rejoin the Tories, leaving a rudderless populist rump, lacking the political capital to do anything useful. In that time, I don't see a coherent leftwing movement emerging because all the constituent parts on the left are too fragmented and batshit insane, while there is still no real electoral chance for a hard right alternative. I think we're in for a protracted period of political instability until the omni-crisis becomes a full blown political collapse, in tandem with a financial collapse, austerity the likes of which no living person has ever seen, and a collapse of public order in the cities. I don't see an off ramp here. I don't see that there is a party political solution. As a people, we are politically fragmented and unserious, and incapable of producing the kind of political movement that could reunite and stabilise the country. I would like to be wrong, and I wish there was a party of the right I could put my faith in, but they're all completely ridiculous.

Fair enough critique, but it also suggests that we ought to just lay down and let the treacherous Farage get away with his ill-gotten gains. I think people understand that actually a villain needs to get his comeuppance.
Will Kingston@WillKingston

This is true. At the same time, the ‘Farage stabbed Rupert in the back’ line is a similarly poor line of attack, because it frames Restore’s motive as vengeance, not the good of the country.
