@pollyplaits @Aominemf I can’t tell until I hear your Japanese, unfortunately. But, if you are talking to much much older people than you, staying in a” long-form” (or “polite form”) would be safer unless they told you that they prefer a more casual way 😊

The amount of times I want to say something in Japanese and people have told me that’s a feminine way of saying it… girls just get to say cooler things smh.

@mihoakamimo @Aominemf I think, not so much slang but I am too casual, perhaps? Plus all my Japanese friends are 50 or older. It's lucky I don't use anime to learn Japanese, or I would have no friends!

@pollyplaits @Aominemf I think if you use too much slang, it makes your Japanese sounds “too young” for your age 😅（Plus, some slang can be rude in some situations.)

@Peak_Interests @LCS__AUTiger @HowtoADHD This is why I have about 20 tabs open on my laptop. If I 'bookmark it' and close it, it may as well be gone forever, as it won't be actioned. It's why I am such a big list advocate - if its not on a list in front of me, it's not getting done.

@LCS__AUTiger @HowtoADHD I also prefer visual reminders. Leave it out and I'll remember what I need to do with it. Put it away, and I'll forget I ever meant to do something with it in the first place (unless I write it down).

They fully are though. Back when I was first driving (17/18) headlights were chill. Now it's like you need sunglasses to drive at night, it's like looking into the sun

@ganglads_ I went to uni in my thirties. My options were make friends with people almost the same age as my kids, or spend three years alone. I choose the former, and never had an issue. Mature students are still students and need the same help and support. That OP has an OP problem.

"If she was a male student the comments would be way different." No! They wouldn't! I don't know WHAT happened to this gen, but when I was 19, nobody thought people 25+ were sexual predators just for being friends with Other Adults.

There's an AITA post rn where OP got a 26 year old student kicked out of a college therapy group because "it's very predatory that she's hanging out with 19 yr olds by being here". If you think this line of thought is at all sensible, you need literal help.

@VirtuAlexB @iKnowNuffing @RosamundUrwin @MitchBenn So those working in our local hospital earning around £24k should find somewhere cheaper and then commute in to work? Average house prices here in Yorkshire are £380k, my 2 bed terrace is valued at £240k, a 5% deposit is £12K. That's 6 months gross salary.

The sheer blithe ignorance of these people is just breathtaking. I should be used to it by now but it never ceases to amaze and appal.
