~130 year old collapsing granary I preserved via photogrammetry just before its demolition. Scanned with @RealityCapture_ A7RIII + Drone -- 25 hour print on a @Phrozen3D Mega 8K

@joe_walker After a few years of pure Houdini I don’t see xpresso as easy. No diagnostic tools, no dependency info, and worst of all those input nodes have what feel like 2x2 pixel hit targets — I had to use mice with sensitivity clutches back in my c4d days

Maxon’s Scene Nodes in Cinema 4D will have to be as easy as Xpresso before it can compete with Blender’s Geometry nodes. The fact that they haven’t replaced Xpresso with Scene Nodes kind of points to that.

Copyright office said: purely AI-generated images with minimal human input → no copyright. However, a human writing significant prompts, and doing editing, can claim human input was not "minimal" and claim copyright. Copyright office also said: "If a human being arranges or creatively selects the outputs generated by an AI tool, or creatively arranges or creatively modifies those outputs, the resulting work may be copyrightable."

Locals in Iraq appear to have recovered a crashed and almost entirely intact Low-Cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS), an American copy of the Iranian Shahed-136 Attack Drone, which is confirmed to have been used recently by Task Force Scorpion Strike during U.S. attacks on Iran as part of Operation Epic Fury.

@3DxDEV7 2/2 I see all the great stuff happening in Blender and I think it’s great(hate autodesk), but a Sr supervisor whose job it was to move a studio from Blender to Houdini once told me “Blender is neat as eye candy, sucks as a meal”

@3DxDEV7 1/2 Vex. Unification of all simulation tools. Material management. Deep integration of sims beyond bolt-on whitepapers. Compiled loops. PDG. Copernicus. Speed. Redshift. Everything about Houdini feels like one product, saving $2500 per year is not a consideration

Serious question for 3D artists: 🎙️ If you’re still paying thousands a year for software, what is the one feature that keeps you from switching to Blender? #VFX #b3d #3Dmodeling

COPSploration in Houdini. A first look at the fluid solver and distortion effects in COPs. It's just.. fascinating and really hard to stop playing with. Soundtrack resourced from @h1sound

@GioakG Yes it’s really bad, literally a *crash houdini* button. The video they released for the replacement looks promising though

@polygnsndwch For me Redshift RT has always been unreliable and it's not even remotely a 1:1 match in terms of features with the full version

@ArtOfPilgrim @Substance3D I thought I was the only one :D. I exported it in 2017 and basically use it on everything, including molecular scientific viz projects, such a magical HDRI

We all know Studio Tomoco is one of the best hdris. Find the installation location if you have @Substance3D painter and just install it in blender. Just a little bit more visual consistency between the two apps. It also looks awesome in blender

@j7369 @TvanHelsdingen Another handy way would be using HWINFO as it creates lovely graphs. I tend to lean on the number of watts being drawn to determine rough card usage too. Tested an M4 Pro MBP in MPM head to head against a 4090, 5x slower! Wild as the CPU perf beat my 7950x in many SOPs

@TvanHelsdingen Thanks, Tim! I just checked using GPU-Z, and the card is running at maximum capacity. You were right; the Windows Task Manager is pretty flawed. No real-time data or even accurate data!

“Mom… I don’t think this donut is ok..” 🤪🍩 more mpmsolverhoudini tests! I would love to see solid performance benchmarks and numbers on how each graphics card model performs with this solver. At the moment I have maximum 5-7% average 4090 usage with just a bit of VRAM and extra processing going to the CPU. Anyone who can share their statistics on this will be highly appreciated! ☺️

@THERE_IS_N0D4T4 Yes 20 finally allows me to pull all my arbitrary exr channels from a single loader, which stopped me from toying with the idea of splashing out on Nuke, which is now a 3k subscription only tool 🥲

@polygnsndwch I believe fusion has improved enough to be on level with Nuke, and it's significantly more performant in many areas, also yeah the price is just better.

I made a HDA for deforming objects inside other objects, works much better than Point Deform and Surface Deform for this purpose. It's based on sibarrick's PGMVC deformer. @MysteryPancake1 Mesh Deformer. We have a pipeline that painfully involves c4D just for that function will try both your total and that tet tip thanks! Your tool might have the accuracy we need as the mesh is internal anatomy model, lots of tiny blood vessels that can go inside out etc

@polygnsndwch oh interesting, what's it called in C4D? you can get similar results by converting the mesh to tetrahedrons, since they have volumetric primuvw coordinates, but this doesn't always work since the triangulation changes easily
