These are my dads ancestors. Our sir name comes from Normandy(a place-name)-Taken by a warrior who fought along side William the Conqueror in The Battle of Hastings. It stayed in Eng. for 500 yrs. His grt grandfather likely arrived in N. France with Rollo via Denmark.

The Normans weren’t French. They were Normans - a people formed from Viking settlers who took land in northern Frankish territory under Rollo in the 10th century. They adopted the local language and some Frankish customs, but that didn’t change where they came from.
