@pong It did not fall apart before hitting us here in eastern West Virginia.
Got crazy wind to start, then it started pouring. Now it's a really heavy drizzle.
@cgrymala NWS: “The majority of the convective models have convection pushing into western MD
and eastern parts of WV, before weakening and possibly dissipating. Not saying that a few isolated showers or a pop up storm couldn`t develop on the cool burst of wind from the dying convection.”
@cgrymala Weird, right? Been watching a line of storms track through Ohio all day. Seems like the prediction of no rain was based on that line falling apart before getting east of the Appalachians, but maybe not?
@capitalweather Got caught in the leading edge of the storm as it rolled through Falls Church during what was supposed to be a quick walk before the rain. Gust front took my breath away and then torrential downpour made it hard to see. Lucky to have made it home safely. Adrenaline still pumping.
8:55p: As these storms move east through DC during the next hour or so, a 2nd Severe T’storm Warning is in effect for the District, areas inside the Beltway and just to the south until 9:30p. Doppler radar indicates damaging wind gusts up to around 60mph are possible.
@Lin_Manuel My toddler is really into Moana right now and her parents have pointed out your involvement enough that she identified your voice as “Lemon Whale” the other day.
@JimRodenbush OK, slight edit: It appears this only happened in 2000 and 2010. (The gallery of all finalists at the top of the 2008 page is misleading.) My mistake. So: 2000, 2010, 2020.
Also: Congratulations!
