I cried seeing this photo of Gabriel Magalhaes’ mother, Andrea. She said she “never wanted to get up again” but felt she had to speak out on the systemic injustices around homelessness and mental health. There is no more courageous hero tonight. People/families deserve better.

I can't stop thinking about it. Close-by stop. Same age. Same name. That poor kid. How will his family get through this?

I get that this was a random attack by a deranged person, but damn if it wasn't kind of hard to let my own 16 y/o boy take the subway to soccer practice tonight.
