@Nic_Wenzel_1 If it’s too egregious the market easily sees through it and responds, bonds dump, yields increase, problem gets worse. Beyond that they want to try to maintain some semblance of competence and credibility. Politically easier to use jargon so the public is unaware what’s happening

@ponzi_maxi Yes that makes sense but why? Any reason in particular? Or just the same reason as usual which is to fund operations without needing to increase taxes

@Rory_Johnston 'country of iran' is interesting phrasing - is it confirmed they spoke to IRGC? could just be iranian 'government'

An off ramp? A TACO? Another bait and switch? Brent cratered ~$16/bbl on Trump’s latest post talking about “very good and productive conversations” with Iran.

I think governments worldwide end up implementing some form of quantitative easing. They’ll call it something different but the end result will be the same.

20% of the world’s oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. That means 80% does not. Given the massive flexibility of most oil producers, there is no question the 80% can crank up production if asked firmly by President Trump.

''fundamentals are not about forecasting the weather for tomorrow, but rather noticing that it is raining today' here are some things i've noticed that i feel maybe hasn't been mentioned enough: iran dropping cluster bombs on israel israel and iran both consider this an existential war, the US less so 6 sigma events occurred in silver and now oil - this is not a normal market the Trump-Xi meeting at the Presidential Summit (Beijing): March 31 – April 2, 2026 aligns with timeline for remainder of war of 'a few weeks' so far given out there is the assumption that the US can stop this war whenever they want - can they though? it takes two to agree to a ceasefire. does a shiite islamic regime which just had its supreme leader killed and its city bombed act rationally in this scenario? posed differently, is it rational for them to stop fighting? (i dont know the answers to this, im more so just brainstorming) 'nothing ever happens' trade has been rewarded over the past few years --> recency bias, supported by 'trust me bro' timelines from an admin whose words mean the least they ever have (they just say things) as a 24 year old geopolitical expert with 5 days of experience, im leaning towards this being a bigger deal than everyone wishes to acknowledge
