@PhilWarnell22 @Glinner Done. And I don't even remember when he was awful to me anyway.
So many are.

@Hart1908 @Official_HUFC Great to see John Pearson still following England everywhere.
English

What a moment! Following England across the USA and who do we bump into at the legendary White Elephant Saloon in Fort Worth, Texas?
None other than our very own new American Owner/Chairman Landon Smith! 🇺🇸 🙌🏻 🐒 💙 🤍

English

Fantastic signing for @Official_HUFC did fantastic for us at Spennymoor, unbelievable skill and drop of the shoulder, was massive in our run to Wembley and will be a massive success @mckeown___ 👏👏
English

@Fiona35352137 @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes You have to make your own luck in life and I’ve had nothing handed to me.
English

@poolymacos @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes Well bully for you.
You try bringing up two children entirely on your own.
See how much you can save from an average wage.
So smug.
It really beggars belief.
English

@Fiona35352137 @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes The 15% was for a year or so around 1990. The gain in value would far outweigh that. I’m surprised anyone could work 52 years and not save anything in a pension or ISA, maybe you were big spenders.
English

@poolymacos @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes But there’s no benefit if I sell and move to another property that has also increased in value by the same percentage.
It’s all relative.
Plus you forget that many of us were paying interest rates at more than 15%.
Add that up over several years.
English

@Fiona35352137 @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes It’s not gone up in value? I’m guessing it has gone up considerably.
English

@poolymacos @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes I did bother to read, but I’m so fed up of hearing what a brilliant life of luxury we pensioners are leading, when truth is that many of us can’t afford to have our heating on most of the time.
The house we live in is the same one we bought,
We gain no advantage from increase
English

@Fiona35352137 @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes We are talking about massive property price rises if you bothered to read.
English

@poolymacos @larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @thetimes They do not.
You think working full time and contributing to the system by paying tax and national insurance, for 52 years, only to end up with state pension of £11,500 a year is benefitting?
You are actually having a laugh aren’t you?
English

@larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes And do you know who benefited? Today’s pensioners
English

@poolymacos @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Fair enough but in the early 80s houses prices went through the roof literally 😂
English

@larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Nope maybe in London early 2000

English

@larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Those are government figures not my mate said 😉
English

@poolymacos @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes My mate bought a house 1981 ish for £35k abd sold it a few years later for 70k
English

@larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes The average UK house price in 1982 was approximately £24,850.
Cladco Profiles
Historical data from the UK Government's House Price Index points to prices hovering around £22,000 to £25,000 throughout the year.
Data.gov.uk +3
Massively 🤣
English

@poolymacos @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes But not long after that they went up massively in the early 80s.
English

@larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes In 1977, the average house price in the UK was approximately £10,500 to £13,650. Official government and building society datasets record the mean around £10,925, while some housing records estimate £13,650 for the same year.
where do you get your figures from 🤣
English

@poolymacos @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Not true an average home was 50k in the 70s/80s so only a £5k deposit needed. £30k today is like £5k yesterday. Plus some lenders do 100% mortgages and a lot of parents/grandparents help their kids out with deposits anyway
English

@martin_lea @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Not sure about Hartlepool left in 1995.
English

@poolymacos @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes You claimed that 1 in 5 pensioners are millionaires! That is not correct, the correct statistic is that 27% of pensioner households (not individuals) are millionaires - that is different.
How many millionaire pensioners are there in Hartlepool?
English

@larterlia1957 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Yeah sure as long as they have a £30000 deposit handy. Back then £1250 would do. The massive growth between 1990 and 2005 will never happen again
English

@poolymacos @martin_lea @lostinallypally @Fiona35352137 @thetimes And any 25 yr old that buys a £300k property today will get the same benefit when they retire
English

@martin_lea @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes So the wealth isn’t real or cannot be turned into cash?
English

@poolymacos @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Of course, but that does not alter the fact that your original claim is not correct...
English

@martin_lea @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Pensioners today are the richest ever generation, a three bed semi could be bought for around £25000 back in the 80’s, most young people bought properties that’s where the wealth comes from rather than earnings as property values boomed.
English

@poolymacos @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes OK, my understanding is that there are no statistics regarding millionaire pensioners.
However, it is published that 27% of pensioners live in households with a total wealth of £1 million +, which is rather different...
English

@Fiona35352137 @martin_lea @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @thetimes With people now living a lot longer and families either unable or not interested in looking after a relative ( don’t want forgetting in the Will mind) the State couldn’t take it on completely sadly.
English

@poolymacos @martin_lea @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @thetimes Well I’m certainly not one of the paper millionaires, neither is my friend in the care home.
But that doesn’t stop the state from forcing her to sell her family home, & have the option of checking up on what gifts she gives, from now on.
I’d call that an invasion of privacy.
English

@poolymacos @lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "1-5"...
English

@lostinallypally @larterlia1957 @Fiona35352137 @thetimes Only about 4.6% of UK deaths result in an Inheritance Tax (IHT) charge. This means approximately 95% of estates do not pay any IHT at all,
