@DrPercyMahlathi has dedicated decades to South Africa’s health sector — from shaping health workforce policy and helping to found the South African Medical Association, to serving as Deputy Director General for Human Resources and establishing the African Institute of Health and the Selizwe Leadership Academy. He is an academic, a leader in ethics and health policy, and the author of a recent book on health workforce strategy. Dr Mahlathi is currently on precautionary suspension and faces criminal charges; these matters are before the courts. Today we give him space to set out his perspective in his own words.
